...it's just not very good, is it? In fact on the basis of last night, it seems even worse than it did before.

For some reason I was on edge expecting Jimmy Carr to fluff the Autocue right at the start...& a few minutes in, that's exactly what he did. He came across as uncomfortable, & some of his jokes were beginning to head off into a Jim Davidson direction.

Things only got worse later when Jimmy Carr did a truly abysmal Vladimir Putin skit that seemed to outstay its welcome forever, & ended in Carr wrestling a guy in a bear suit inside a make-shift 'boxing ring'.

Charlie Brooker's segments have been reduced to one, & this week he was ranting at the Queen & the royals in general. Rather than be funny, it actually had the reverse effect of creating sympathy for the Queen & making him out to be a bit of a boorish prick.

They had a pretty decent round-table discussion about football, but David Mitchell was rather out of his depth on this one, with Alastair Campbell & Clark Carlisle coming out rather more in touch with general consensus on the subject than him.

And Laverne is just...there.

For a show built around "topical comedy, satire, sketches, and round table discussions", it fails on all but one.

The last five minutes of it was the real death blow. You can pretty much see where they've failed to fill out their time allotment, so just get all the presenters together with some cutouts of tomorrow's papers and improvise something. Except none of them have ever really excelled at improv comedy, so it becomes dead air.

I just don't see why they do it live. Let them work on it during the day and have less of the improv, which would make it at least watchable. Putting the four of them together is like putting your four favourite foods together and it tasting gooseberry fool, but minus Laverne obviously.

She seems to be like that in everything. I've only ever seen her on panel shows rather than by herself, but it seems that she just doesn't work well with others at the very least. She could be better alone for all I know, but from what I've seen of her she's pretty rubbish.

She's the worst thing about the show...

Each time I watch this I wish they'd bring The 11 O Clock Show back (when it was in its prime). :(

I can't stand watching it. It's way too lefty. I had high hopes for it when it was first advertised last year because it's got 3 funny men in it (dunno what the woman is famous for) and in hindsight, naively assumed it might try and have a more neutral balance, but the show is just unenjoyable, dull and too try-hard.

I like Lauren Laverne. Her radio show on 6 is cool too.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Lauren Laverne is really fit, in her defence. I would.

That was the first time I've seen 10 O'Clock Live and I have to say I thought it was utter gooseberry fool. I am normally a fan of David Mitchell and even sometimes Jimmy Carr ( :fp: ) but I just felt uneasy for the whole programme, waiting for the next strawberry float up. Kind of when you watch your little brother/sister/nephew/niece/son/daughter performing at the Christmas school play, a massive relief of pressure when it's over.

Just out of interest, what series is this?

This programme is terrible, and as mentioned above it has no benefit from being live. Its almost the only selling point it has.

David Mitchell isnt a funny person, he's only funny in performing from a script written for him.
Jimmy Carr is Aids personified. Humour for people who don't find anything above a fart joke funny.
That gobby bird. LOL WUT
Charlie - Only on there to provide some edge to the live aspect, which eh doesn't.

tl;dr Kill it with hammers.

Seriously though, I love Brooker, Mitchell and Carr, they are genuinely funny and witty people. They need better production and direction though. Quite a few times they fluffed the autocue and ended up talking over each other and interrupting each other in the 'debates'. Oh and boobies needs to go. She's fit but almost as useless as Louise Redknnap on Something For The Weekend.

This has the potential to be a fantastic show. The production really lets it down though.

How to improve 10 O'Clock Live-

1. Cancel 10 O'Clock Live
2. Show a double bill of The Daily Show/Colbert Report in the timeslot.
3. ????
4. Profit!
