For me the porn in GTA is more of a worry than the killing, young kids see shootings and killings in film and TV from very young, the game isn't going to change anything, but I don't think 11 year old kids should be visiting the Liberty City strip clubs.

while very true do you not bbelieve kids see that type of thing on TV and the internet i mean the interent is so widely used by young kids unles parents control properly they have instant access to porn and you don't need an 18 cert game or film for it.

I was actually wondering today how much stuff in the media actually affects children. This was after seeing the "Accidental Gay Moments" advert on Channel 4 at about 6pm.

It's pretty strawberry floated up to think that violent imagery will have a worse effect on a minor than sexual imagery. One is inherently hurtful and destructive, and the other isn't. Not that I'm singling you out really, it's quite a common attitude, especially on the other side of the pond. And besides, popular culture is just as steeped in sexuality as it is violence.

There was no such thing as 18+ games when I was under 18. My parents only had to protect me from the evil that is video nasties.

They were doing a great job too up until I found my Dad's porno collection whilst looking to see if they had bought me a Vectrex for christmas. Happy days.

GTA IV is rated "M" by the ESRB in the USA. Apparently this means it is "unsuitable" for kids under 17. Of course, there's no law which says the retailer can't sell the game to a 5 year old, making this survey and all others like it completely worthless.

Very true this, I wish I had discovered my dad's collection of execution/murder videos than his porno stash.

My parents bought me GTA2 when I was 11 and they're not "dumbass chavs". :x
