He's got an aurora? I know he's good but strawberry floating hell.

Yeah, of course he doesn't. :simper:

I think Germany deserved it.

Lionel Messi - Player of the Tournament? It's a lot of rubbish. :fp: :|

Agreed all round. But when you see Messi standing there with an Adidas-branded trophy, wearing Adidas boots in his Adidas shirt, it starts to make sense.

It has to go to a player in the final so that they are actually available in the photos (stupid, I know).

They could and should have given it to a German, but they probably wanted to keep some marketing presence in South America.

It's all just :fp:

No, it was a FIFA technical committee, which would definitely not have been influenced by FIFA sponsors Adidas in any way whatsoever.

Note that this was the first time it wasn't sections of the media that picked the winner.

I for one, think it's incredibly cynical to suggest an organisation like FIFA could do something corrupt like that.

It's embarrassing to be honest. Messi wasn't even Argentina's Player of the Tournament, let alone the overall one.

I think people give FIFA an awfully hard time and it's just not on.

Even Maradonna didn't think Messi deserved the golden ball.

"Messi? I would give him heaven if possible," said the 53-year-old on Telesur.

"But it's not right when someone wins something that he shouldn't have won just because of some marketing plan."

Maradona's comments were made as the Golden Ball is sponsored by German sportswear giant adidas, as is Messi.

:shifty: Still can't believe some people think Ozil is anything other than World Class, let alone a good/decent/gooseberry fool player.

 8-)

Cannot wait for the proper football to come back after that. If Ozil isn't full of confidence now I don't know what it'd take for him.

He wouldn't be in that Germany team if he was anything other than a bit good. He can be a lazy sod and he does fade, so I don't know if he's world class (that's a different argument) but I'd hardly worry about what the Mail says.

Ozil needs a holiday. He was exhausted at the end of last season

Well played.

Ha, nice. Surprised to see the directors still focusing on the stereotypical women in the crowds. Seems outdated.
