I do question those decisions. Fable Legends was practically finished and Scalebound looked to be quite far into development. Surely releasing those to mediocre reviews would have been better than just canning them. It's made MS's first party line-up look very bare.

Thoroughly underwhelming conference bar Anthem, which is multi platform. A lot of games just started looking the same to me - 3rd person slash-em-ups, shoot-bang bullshit. Where's the variety? The best bit was the ID@xbox montage, there looked to be some really interesting games in there.
Xbonx is DOA and there are remarkably few games to play on it. I can't see how that conference can sway anyone sat on the fence.

Phil Spencer said after scalebound was cancelled that he doesn't want to talk 1st party games that are over a year out at E3. Halo 6 will be November 2018, we know it's coming but he simply doesn't believe in teasing games that far away. Hopefully Fable 4 is in the works too.

My thoughts exactly, what selling points does this new XBO have for non-XBO owners if they never wanted one before? If you have a PC and PS4 that's all you need

I thought that was a pretty awful conference.

The XboneX is dead on arrival, ridiculous price.

The whole "console launch exclusive" is strawberry floating stupid.

Some games looked great but most of those were multiplatform. Ori and Crackdown 3 looked good though.

Original Xbox BC is great, but will all depend on the library and how much they'll charge for games.

A poor E3 for sure, Digital Foundry may stoke interest up again when they compare it but I've been greenlit to get one for over year now so I'm picking it up. PUBG though has me VERY excited.

Good for you, but at £450, I just can't see what it's selling point is. A higher resolution? Wow!

While it might split the userbase, at that price it needs exclusives to make it worth it. As it is, there is nothing that can be played on it that can't be played on a bog standard Xbone.

Meh.

It's as though MS saw Sony's Pro reveal and thought to themselves "If we try hard we can be at least as underwhelming as that, if not more so!" My point being that they had *all this time* to think up a way of showing off the console's prowess, IN A TWO HOUR SHOW (!), and they still somehow managed to fail at delivering a must play moment.
But then maybe I'm being a bit harsh and Forza and Anthem (which btw is 2nd only to Xbox One X in terms of awful names) were those games but merely left me personally underwhelmed as neither genre really does it for me...

Agree with all the Xbox One X DOA comments.

You can waffle on about bandwidth and GPU memory all you want.

This Christmas people will see Forza Horizon in 4K, compare it to Uncharted Lost Legacy and Horizon Zero Dawn running in 4K and wonder why they're expected to pay £100 more compared to PS4 Pro.

Weird, I thought it was a pretty strong showing from Microsoft, focused on the games, talked about what people want to hear and didnt get sidetracked by TV or AR or any other bullshit.

Sony know that price means a lot and £450 is crazy!

If MS can get you to start using the Windows Store for some PC games then that's enough for them.

I think they realised that not everyone has a fantastic internet connection so having processing done in the cloud while great in theory just doesn't really work so they've quietly dropped it.

I don't think it's the price itself that's the problem (the PS3 did initially fly off the shelves here in the UK at £425), it's that the games being offered don't justify the price yet. The graphics have to go above and beyond what is currently available. We saw it somewhat with Forza 7, but Assassin's Creed could have easily been a Pro enhanced game. In fact it probably will be. That leaves the other multiformat titles to deliver the goods, and we haven't seen that yet until Anthem and Metro way into 2018. The X is £250 more than the S; probably around £150 more than a Pro. That's an uphill battle without the games to go with it. The X is being sold on graphics alone. It has to be something special because there is no back up plan. And that comes back to the S being so feature rich already. A better controller, 4K-upscaling, HDR, Ultra Blu Ray and any exclusive games have all been taken out as a selling point of the X. You can have all of that for under £199 come November.

We'll see all the comments about how XboneX is powerful, teraflops, POWER, 4K, POWER, expensive to make, POWER, etc but none of that matters to anybody but the absolute super hardcore MS fans.

The mass market will not give a gooseberry fool. They can be tempted by promises of power, but not at that cost.

You can get an Xbone for under £200 now. They are going to sell strawberry float all XboneX's at £450. :fp:

A brand new generation console can sell for that price.

A slightly better version of the same console that costs £200+ more, which only plays the same games will not sell at that price.

This has to be the first MS conference in years where they haven't showed off a Halo game?

Did it? From what I remember it was a piece of piss to get hold of one and the launch line-up was pretty lacklustre.

What I hope for from Xbox x is much improved load times and rock solid framerates.
I never really got that bothered about loading times as I remember the 80's and 90's where load times made even the slowest loading games today look speedy but I'm replaying Fallout 4 and I must admit I'm starting to notice a fair bit. I think they should try and showcase that aspect but I realise it's not as sexy as snazzy graphics.

Yeah, unquestionably a good thing.
