I will happily bet you a billion Euros that the Xbox One will never ever have an 8K edition.

Why do you think I was talking about an Xbox One?

You might wanna check the bit I bolded for you.

Regarding 8K, it'd be pointless for either PS5, Xbox Two or their respective "mid-gen" upgrades to pursue 8K outside of VR.

MS and Sony would be idiots if they "logically" feel there's a cut off point when they stop supporting the original model or ensuring every game can be played on both tiers.

It also directly goes against what Sony (I think it was them) said about "nobody being left behind".

You would get to the point where something labeled a PS4 would no longer play all PS4 games. Retrospectively too, it would effectively been the PS4/Xbox's successor was released after about three years, even if it was later down the line you got locked out of software.

I don't buy that MS will deliberately delay the next-gen too. Firstly, you have the situation that their hand might even be forced by Sony - if word of a PS5 reaches them and they know the specs, they aren't going to exactly let them launch into the next-gen unopposed. We saw how Sony struggled initially with the PS3 when it was a year a half behind the original Xbox 360. They are also going to want to try and regain first place and being the market leader once again, and the next-gen gives them the best chance of making inroads into Sony's user base. Scorpio is likely going to appeal to existing Xbone owners or those looking for a second console mid-gen. You'll get a few people having it as their first foray into the current-gen of consoles, but I wouldn't imagine many have held off this long without either a PS4 or Xbone.

I'm confident 4K will be the cap for resolution for consoles for at least the next generation. Even the next gen upgrade consoles just aren't going to have the power to do 8K justice as they will just be getting into their stride with 4K doing solid 60fps with all the usual bells and whistles.
I'd much rather they push 4K to the max rather than rush to 8K and is the resolution for TV and film (which is the reason most people upgrade a TV in the first place) going to be enough to make people replace recently bought 4K sets?

4K, 8K, 16K, 32K. I love it, it's like the old days of getting rid of a 16bit console for a shiny new 32bit one.

I wonder how many K resolution we need to get to before we get to the point where each pixel is smaller than an atom?

Depends on the screen size.

Pffft, strawberry float K, we need bits back so that we can tell true power. Things ran smoothly under that system until Atari and Nintendo strawberry floated it up. The console generations should have gone like this:

8bit – Master System, NES
16bit – Megadrive, SNES
32bit – Saturn, 3DO, PlayStation, Jaguar, N64
64bit – PS2, Xbox, Gamecube
128bit – PS3, Xbox 360, Wii
256bit – PS4, Xbone, Wii U
512bit – Switch, PS4Pro, XboneX

In bold are the two consoles that strawberry floated up the proper order of things by trying to jump to the next bit generation. For shame! Things have been shite ever since. We could have been on 512bit consoles now! :x :x :x

Well if we follow the Jaguar example that two 32 bit chips bolted together= 64 bit then the Xboxone and PS4 are 512bit systems as they have eight 64 bit processors.
