It would cost more?

If you are looking for a 4K capable gaming PC, you are going to have to spend more than £449 on your graphics card alone.

EDIT - I don't understand why people have this thing about PCs being the obvious alternative, especially to something like this where it would literally cost double up front to get a PC that can do what the Xbox One X can do. Its not a logical point to try to make.

Looks pretty cheap too. Hopefully it looks better in the plastic

Regular one.

They're showing the actual console off on Geoff Keighley's Youtube show right now.

It's the size that makes it an impressive design. Smaller than the Xboxone S but more powerful than the comparatively massive PS4 Pro takes a lot of doing.

What’s in the MixPot?

The MixPot is full of digital goodness. The MixPot will be delivered in waves starting within 24 hours after the end of the briefing, and will include:

Rare Replay – full game download. Mature game – will not be awarded to accounts for users under 17.
Halo Wars 2 Kinsano Leader Pack (with special bonus of 3 Blitz Packs for Xbox One players)
Minecraft Redstone Specialists Skin Pack (for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition)
Halo Warthog in Forza Horizon 3 (unique vehicle not available in the in-game store)
HAWKEN – Starter Pack
No Time to Explain – full game download
The Final Station – full game download. Mature game – will not be awarded to accounts for users under 17.
Note The giveaways will not be awarded to accounts for users with family settings that block purchases.

When will I receive my Xbox E3 MixPot?

Once you have linked your Mixer account to your Microsoft Account, you will receive your MixPot within a week or less.

Looks around the same size as the original PS4.

I know Devlin has a gaming PC, so he may be able to upgrade for a decent price.

Unless its recent then he's probably going to have to upgrade more than just his graphics card. Even if he doesn't I think to do 4K justice on PC you'd probably want a 1080 Ti which will set you back £650.

As I expected it was a big pile of meh to me. 90% of it just seemed so generic. Generic spins on generic themes with an added twist of generic. Only a few things stood out. Metro looked good but heavily scripted. I'm sure it will look that good but the movement and such is just false. Really disappointed with AC because what the series really needed to do is make it an RPG with mythological beasts. Why not just make it a new bloody IP ffs. :fp: That said if I can gooseberry fool on peoples heads with the Eagle then I might forgive it. Shadow of War didn't demo so well. The world looks more interesting this time which is good but that Orc. :dread: Seriously forced and misplaced humour. But the first was ace so if that builds on it then I'm there Day When Its Cheap. The Last Night looked ace. That platformer that had a kiddiefied Conker was horrid. Looked like someone caught a glimpse of classic Rare but then had to make a copy from memory and then said this looks too edgy so lets make it look like a breakfast cereal box. Ashen looked cool but I know very little of the game itself. Sea of Thieves............ looked total cack. But. BUT. It looks like it could be a fun thing to play when chatting with some mates. Viewed in isolation it seemed limp, slow and clunky.

Only games that really stood out on a technical visual level for XBONX were Forza and Anthem. The first might be great but its Forza and you know Forza and I know Forza everything Forza so much Forza its Forza and Forza everywhere. Anthem looked awesome once it got out into the world. But the game just ended up looking like most other online grindathons. Might be quite fun. Just as long as the lore isn't impenetrable tripe like Destiny.

Still, it may be more expensive, but you can do more on a PC, games are generally cheaper and get cheaper quickly there's strawberry float ton more games, so I'd say it's a viable alternative, if you don't then fine, we have differing opinions.

Digital Foundry are going to be kept busy showing how the 4 versions of this gen compare.

It's certainly going to be interesting to see just what extra power brings to the table over those quite different systems.

I don't care about 4K but I'm quite tempted, mainly due to backwards compatibility. Would love to revisit Jade Empire or play Soul Calibur 2 with a modern pad, but £450 is a lot of money and there just aren't enough exclusives.

Assassin's Creed looks cool. If the combat has a bit more depth and the game world has enough to do and see they could be on to a winner.

Wait a minute are you saying in that case its a viable alternative or in general?

I'm not sure there are many people out there with a PC they could slot a 1080 Ti into to be ready for 4K gaming and if they did that would mean they'd actually already have a PC with all those games that could do more than an Xbox One X, it just wouldn't be able to do it at 4K. So yeah, still an Xbox One X would make more sense to me, but what the hell.

But if you are talking in general, from stratch, someone who doesn't have a PC at all. Then no, it doesn't make any kind of sense to spend the kind of money you'd need to as an alternative to 4K gaming on this new Xbox.

Yeah if you want to play Soul Calibur 2 all you need is an Xbox One and £15.99...
