24: Legacy S01E01, Sunday in the US then every Monday.

The clock ticks again with 24: LEGACY, the next evolution of the Emmy Award-winning “24.” From Emmy Award-winning executive producer Howard Gordon (“Homeland,” “24: Live Another Day”), Academy Award- and Emmy Award-winning executive producer Brian Grazer (“A Beautiful Mind,” “24”), writers and executive producers Manny Coto and Evan Katz (“24,” “24: Live Another Day”), director and executive producer Stephen Hopkins (“24”) and executive producer and original series star Kiefer Sutherland, 24: LEGACY chronicles an adrenaline-fueled race against the clock to stop a devastating terrorist attack on United States soil – in the same real-time format that has propelled this genre-defining series. Six months ago in Yemen, an elite squad of U.S. Army Rangers, led by Sergeant ERIC CARTER (Corey Hawkins, “Straight Outta Compton”), killed terrorist leader Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid. In the aftermath, Bin-Khalid’s followers declared a fatwah against Carter, his squad and their families, forcing them into federal witness protection. But a recent attempt on Carter’s own life makes it clear to him that his team is now exposed.

To thwart further attacks, Carter enlists REBECCA INGRAM (Miranda Otto, “Homeland”), who quarterbacked the raid that killed Bin-Khalid. She’s a brilliant and ambitious intelligence officer who has stepped down from her post as National Director of CTU to support her husband, SENATOR JOHN DONOVAN (Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Jimmy Smits, “NYPD Blue,” “The West Wing”), in his campaign for President of the United States. Decades of sleepless nights and missed anniversaries landed her at the top. With the White House within their grasp, can she truly embrace a new role as First Lady? Or will her love of the action draw her back in? Together, in this fast-paced thrill ride, Carter and Ingram uncover a sophisticated terrorist network that will force them to ask: “Who can we trust?” As they battle Bin-Khalid’s devotees, they are forced to confront their own identities, families and pasts.

‘24 Legacy’ Gets Series Order By Fox

24 is back. Fox has given an early series order to 24: Legacy, its drama pilot that reboots the 24 franchise with brand new characters and cast, from creators Manny Coto & Evan Katz, Imagine TV’s Brian Grazer and Howard Gordon. They are being joined by original star Kiefer Sutherland who has come on board as executive producer.

24 Spinoff at Fox Would Revolve Around a New Male Character

Jack Bauer is passing the torch stopwatch.

Fox is developing a 24 spinoff that would revolve around a new twentysomething male terrorist hunter, franchise overlord Howard Gordon confirmed to TVLine Sunday at the Critics Choice Television Awards.

While there are no current plans for Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack to appear, it’s entirely possible his iconic character could pop in and out on a guest-star basis.

The project would find the new male antihero working alongside an older, more seasoned female agent (not Yvonne Strahovski’s Kate Morgan, although she also may also appear). It would also launch as a limited series, similar to last year’s acclaimed 24: Live Another Day, but I’m told the offshoot could easily become a long-term property for Fox.

24: LAD vets Manny Coto and Evan Katz will serve as writers and EPs.

FOX aired a fairly successful revival of "24" in summer 2014, with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) and Co. stopping a terrorist plot in London in "24: Live Another Day." During the 2015 FOX upfronts press call, Dana Walden and Gary Newman, chairmen and CEOs of the Fox Television Group, revealed that another edition of "24" is in development.

"We have been developing another version of '24,' but it's still fairly early in the development process," says Newman. "So there just would be nothing we can tell you at this time other than we are working on something."

A pitch for another limited-series installment of the “24” franchise on Fox envisions a storyline that would revolve around supporting characters and not feature Sutherland’s intrepid covert op Jack Bauer.

The talk of more “24” came up Saturday during the exec Q&A session at Fox’s portion of the Television Critics Assn. press tour in Pasadena. The session marked the TCA debut for Gary Newman and Dana Walden, the longtime 20th Century Fox TV chiefs who took on oversight of Fox Broadcasting in July amid a shakeup at the network.

Newman and Walden cautioned that there is no deal and no plans are set in stone for more “24.” But a Bauer-free pitch for a new installment — following on the 12-episode limited series “24: Live Another Day” that aired on Fox this past summer — came recently from series stewards Howard Gordon, Evan Katz and Manny Coto. It’s tentatively targeted for 2016.

“We have great characters and that great creative team,” Walden said. She noted that it would be a one-time effort to experiment with highlighting supporting players, and she assured that the Jack Bauer character would remain the center of the show over the long haul. Sutherland is aware of the possibility and supportive, she added.

The risk paid off! 24 is back without Jack Bauer – and it's incredible

I started watching the first Jack-less episode of 24: Legacy with trepidation in my heart. By the end, I was all but punching the air with delight

24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY is a thrilling new event series set to restart the ticking clock on the groundbreaking and Emmy Award-winning drama.

The high-octane saga reunites the Emmy Award-winning team of executive producer Howard Gordon; star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland; co-creator Robert Cochran; executive producers Evan Katz, Manny Coto, David Fury, Brian Grazer; and director Jon Cassar. It also will retain the real-time, pulse-pounding, fast-paced format with split screens and interweaving storylines.

Set and shot in London, the suspenseful event series once again will follow the exploits of heroic agent JACK BAUER (Sutherland). Four years ago, Jack was a fugitive from justice. Now an exile, he nevertheless is willing to risk his life and freedom to avert yet another global disaster. Tracking Jack are CIA head STEVE NAVARRO (Benjamin Bratt, “Law & Order”); CIA agent KATE MORGAN (Yvonne Strahovski, “Dexter”), who is both resourceful and ruthless; JORDAN REED (Giles Matthey, “Jobs”), a smart and sophisticated CIA computer tech; and ERIK RITTER (Gbenga Akinnagbe, “The Wire”), a sharp, strong and arrogant field operative. Calling the shots is JAMES HELLER (William Devane, “The Dark Knight Rises”), now President of the United States. Heller is flanked by his Chief of Staff MARK BOUDREAU (Tate Donovan, “Damages”), who is married to Heller's daughter – Jack's former flame, AUDREY (Kim Raver, “Revolution”). Meanwhile, a hardened CHLOE O'BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub, “Firewall”), Bauer's CTU confidante, is now working underground with high-profile hacker ADRIAN CROSS (Michael Wincott, “The Crow”). Guest stars on 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY include Golden Globe Award nominee Stephen Fry (“Alice in Wonderland,” BONES) and Michelle Fairley (“Game of Thrones”). The harrowing day will have Jack attempting to thwart an unthinkable terrorist attack that could change the world forever.

Announcement:-

[spoiler]
The new 12-episode 24 event series, titled 24: Live Another Day, will likely launch in early May 2014 running into the summer, Fox’s entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said during an upfront conference call this morning. The original idea to continue 24 was as a feature, which died after 24 showrunner Howard Gordon and his team concluded that ”24 being compressed into two hours is not 24,” Reilly said. But after Fox announced its event series push six months ago, Gordon sparked to the idea of resurrecting 24 that way. The 12-hour version will keep the real-time nature of the original series, skipping some hours in the 24-hour period it covers. That would actually benefit the show, Reilly said, noting that 24 producers always felt that the spine of each season of 24 were 12 episodes containing major events, with the other 12 providing connective tissue. “Now we’ll get the best part,” Reilly said. While Fox envisions its limited series as standalone, one-time events, some, including 24, could become franchises with multiple installments though it is unlikely to have a new 24 every year.

http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/24-rebo ... -fox-news/

Jack Bauer will be back, baby: EW has confirmed that Fox will bring back its long-running hit 24 next May.

The network will air 12 episodes of 24: Live Another Day as part of its new directive to air event programming in the summer as a way to tie together the regular seasons. A miniseries from M. Night Shyamalan called “Wayward Pines” will air after the run of 24, which will (naturally) feature the return of Kiefer Sutherland.

The 24 producers “always had the idea of maybe someday doing feature films, but as got into it they all agreed 24 being compressed in two hours is not 24,” Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly told reporters today. “A light bulb went off with (former Executive Producer) Howard Gordon. The spine of the 24 episodes is about 12 hours. Those were big events that occurred and little connective tissue in between.”

Unlike what happened in the regular series — where each episode represented an hour in Bauer’s action-packed life — the new version will jump around during the day, Reilly explained. And the star power could be better than ever.

“A lot of who’s who in Hollywood wanted to participate in this,” Reilly said.

Asked why the show was cancelled in 2010, Reilly admitted that it felt like the right time — at the time.

“We wanted it to go out strong,” he said. “We didn’t want to keep it limping for two more seasons.”

Though Reilly says he doesn’t envision 24 becoming a regular series, he won’t rule out its “franchise-ability.”

“People are that much more excited about this,” he said.

The clock may start ticking again on Fox. I’ve learned that the network is looking to bring back its signature real-time drama 24 as a limited series. Kiefer Sutherland is in talks to reprise his Emmy-winning role as Agent Jack Bauer. No deals are in place, but Fox is eying 24 as part of its recent push in limited event series. Since 24 ended its eight-season run on Fox in 2010, there have been efforts to continue the story as a feature, which ultimately didn’t take off. I hear the idea to do another 24 chapter on TV came from longtime 24 showrunner Howard Gordon, now executive producer on Showtime’s Homeland. I hear he pitched the plan, which would start from scratch with a new story arc, to 24 producers 20th Century Fox TV and studio-based Imagine TV as well as Fox, which all jumped on board. Gordon will likely executive produce through his 20th TV-based company Teakwood Lane. In addition to Homeland, Gordon executive produces the newly picked up TNT series Legends and high-profile FX pilot Tyrant, which is being directed by Ang Lee. Sutherland most recently starred on the Fox/20th TV drama Touch, which is being cancelled after two seasons.

Won't be 24 eps but a little bit more Jack will be great.

They should start again completely new with no characters we recognise, and every season has a completely new cast. That was the plan with 24 originally but they chickened.out. and bought everyone back. The great thing about season 1 was that you didn't know the characters and.couldnt be sure.who to trust

12.
Could show Homeland a thing or two about how to create political intrigue with action and suspense. 24 was just so phenomenally consistently good. The world is ready for 12.

6 had two good eps, the rest were awful. 7 was ok, the first half of 8 was a bit crap but the last 8 or so episodes were insanely good.

This really doesn't need to come back. It was good, I loved it, but do I want to see any more? Not really.

There's only so much that can happen to one man in a single day and I think JB has hit his limit in terms of what there is that could possibly happen.

Do not want. 24 was brilliant and probably my fav show on TV (seasons 1-5) but the last few were basically copy and paste jobs. I love how the announcement comes after Kiefers' new show is gooseberry fool canned.

So bring it back for a limited series because they can't get the movie to work? Not surprising, never did think it would fit a movie format well.

Glad Touch is cancelled though, load of shite

This news has made my week. And it's true: the amazing writer/producer David Fury confirmed it on Twitter this morning. I think that a more cable-esque format of 12 episodes would be great for the show. Set it between the hours of noon and midnight. There was ALWAYS a mid-season lull and various filler plots in the past. Only having half the episodes could make the show leaner and meaner, and they could start by ditching the soap-opera plotlines that dragged down every season (amnesia/cougar/Starbuck). It'd be easier and better to write, and Sutherland could do more work within the show (the main reason there were so many scenes not involving him at all, particularly as the show went on, was because of the workload involved in him shooting 24 episodes).

This is a win-win, and 24 has been off air just long enough for there to be a freshness if it comes back. There's still nothing like the Jack Bauer Power Hour.

(Tony pls.)
