London info:-

NEW ACTION-PACKED EVENT SERIES “24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY” TAKES JACK BAUER TO ENGLAND FOR 12 ACTION-PACKED EPISODES

24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY Marks the First “24” Production to Film Abroad Since 2008 Telefilm “24: Redemption”

Twentieth Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and FOX are sending the production of 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY across the Atlantic to London for a thrilling international adventure, as the new tent-pole event series restarts the clock on the groundbreaking and Emmy Award-winning drama franchise starring Kiefer Sutherland. As previously announced, 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY will make its historic debut in the summer of 2014 on FOX.

“‘24’ has always had such a global sensibility,” said Sutherland, who also serves as an executive producer on the event series. “But to be able to tell this intense ‘24’-style story with the beauty of Europe’s history and architecture as the backdrop is going to be fascinating. Hopefully, by the time you’re finished watching an episode, you’ll feel like you’ve been there...on the edge of your seat.”

Co-showrunner and executive producer Evan Katz added, “We wanted the show’s return to be an event, and part of that was putting Jack in a very different context. Four years ago, we left Jack a fugitive from justice and we’re going to pick him up four years later in London.”

Co-showrunner and executive producer Manny Coto continued, “Jack is soon back on the run and it takes us into the streets of London and in places that break new ground for the show. We’ve shot in New York, Washington, Los Angeles and Cape Town -- but now we’re in London and Jack’s loose on the streets of Europe, hunted by and hunting bad guys.”

Originally premiering November 6, 2001, “24” was nominated for a total of 73 Emmy Awards, winning for Outstanding Drama Series in 2006. Over the course of eight seasons, and a two-hour telefilm, Sutherland garnered seven Emmy Award nominations and one win for Outstanding Lead Actor – Drama Series. While the series gained global recognition, Sutherland’s portrayal of the legendary character penetrated the American psyche like no other dramatic television character to become part of the cultural lexicon.

I'd much rather have a new mini-series than a movie. Sounds like they're using the movie's plot as a basis for the season. Wasn't that going to be set in London?

Most of it will probably be filmed again in LA with green screen.

According to this page the entirety of season 8 set in New York was shot just in Los Angeles:

There are TAX breaks for films/tv shot in the UK now, which is why so many things are being centred around London etc, so some of it might be shot on location.

It'd be a lot harder for them to recreate London than it was to recreate New York.

Two more 24 alums have been locked in for the upcoming 24: Live Another Day:-

Image

Kim Raver, who had been in lengthy negotiations, and William Devane have signed on for the Fox event series and will reprise their daughter-father roles. They join star/executive producer Kiefer Sutherland, who is back as intrepid CTU agent Jack Bauer, and Mary Lynn Rajskub as his quirky sidekick Chloe O’Brien. Both Raver and Devane joined the 24 series in Season 4 as Secretary of Defense James Heller (Devane) and his daughter Audrey Raines (Raver), a committed and passionate woman with a tragic past, who fell in love with Jack. They were both last seen in the final scenes of Season 6, when Jack said goodbye to a catatonic Audrey.

Just saw the first episode again as I begin my rewatch of the whole show.

Mason
Tony
Jack
Nina
Kim
Terri

It's really weird to see Jack having some semblance of a normal life at the start. Everything just goes to gooseberry fool for him over the next 8 seasons.

Just over midway through season 3 now.

I'd forgotten just how harsh what happens to Chappelle is. Finally got to a point where he was being interesting and contributing, then Jack has to shoot him in the back of the head. He was no Mason but the silent clock is well deserved. :(

24 returns May 5th with a two hour première.

And some more casting news:

Yvonne Strahovski is getting back into the world of espionage, joining the cast of FOX's "24: Live Another Day."

Does this mean Hannah McKay is no longer down in Buenos Aires raising Harrison Morgan?

Well, no. They're probably not related.

FOX has confirmed that Strahovski will play Kate Morgan, "a brilliant but impulsive CIA field agent in London" in the "24" limited series which is expected to premiered this spring/summer on FOX.

The Australia-born Strahovski formerly honed her CIA chops as Sarah Walker on NBC's "Chuck." She shifted to the other side of the law to play the murderous Hannah on "Dexter" for much of that drama's last two seasons.

In addition to returning favorites Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane, the "24: Live Another Day" cast will features newcomers including Michael Wincott and Judy Davis.
