I actually wouldn't, I already though Wii U was a poor choice when they announced it, now that the console's in what appears to be it's final year a port seems utterly pointless.

PS4/XBO/PC would be the best place for this.

I dunno about that - it would get lost amongst the sea of PS4 and XBO releases, whilst on the U it would gain much more focus as there is little competition. I'm sure it would appear on the U - wasn't there a Kickstarter for this to happen?

By the time this comes out Nintendo will have moved on to NX which, hopefully, will be X86 instead of Power PC enabling developers to easily port from PC.

What's the Wii U pad like for driving games anyway? Can you get the same steering wheels as PS4/XBO?

I'd assume that the developers have been working on the Wii U version for two years now so I doubt there'd be any code conversion challenges. My choice of controller for this would be the Pro Controller (i.e. a standard pad); I prefer using that for most titles.

Off the top of my head, the only other (decent) car racer* I can think of on the U is Need for Speed Undercover U - which was an excellent port. Oh, and the driving in Watch Dogs! There have been a couple of smaller budget racers in the eShop but nothing to write home about.

* Not including Kart, of course!

What about Sonic Racing? Did that ever get released on Wii U?

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

I presume he classes that as a kart racer.

All of these games - this, Drift Stage, Power Drive 2000, have all gone silent and probably won't be out till next year.

Power Drive had an update last week which is good because it looked like vaporware. Hopefully we'll get some news on Drift Stage soon.

This will make me sound like a joyless peasant, but to me the Stratos looks wrong going full pelt along a tarmac road - will stick to the other cars instead.

I wonder whether it's an indicator that we'll see a rally track?

I'd also like to see a car modelled after something from Ridge Racer Type 4, arguably the best non-Sega 90s arcade racer.

What? Wasnt this Kickstarted initially to be PC and Wii-U only?

That's what I had thought! Seems odd... the game title has changed on that listing page, too. Hopefully this is just some sort of mix-up.

I guess the surprise is that the Kickstarter was funded for Wii U and PC versions... and now they may not be released.

Oh i see - i guess it shows how old the project is. Is there any point in releasing yooka laylee for the wii u? Surely they will make a loss if they release it on disk? I guess they maybe obliged to get a wii u version out anyway now?

Again, Yooka-Laylee was funded through Kickstarter on the basis of there being a Wii U version. There is no disc release planned... although Team 17 are on-board to assist with marketing and I would expect to see a physical release for some versions.

I'd expect Yooka-Kayle to be on both Wii U and NX, Nintendo fans are the biggest market for the game.

90s Racer being on Wii U but not PS4/XBO made no sense at the time, especially now.
