Sega lost the source code for a lot of their old games that they made during the Saturn era which might explain why some games take so long to be re-released.

They could write an emulator for consoles and then using the existing code without even touching it if they really wanted, like you say its possible on PC so I'm not sure why its completely impossible on console.

Because walled garden content, closed systems, everything at Microsoft's/Sony's whim, licensing, PC master race etc.

Not just the Saturn. By all accounts they lost the source code to megadrive era things as well. Sonic, for example, which is why the GBA port was apparently so horrible.

They don't even have the skills to properly disassemble their own software. You think they're going to be doing any better with the hardware?

Which is a shame because I really want to play Revenge of Death Adder.

Some of you will be pleased to hear that PS4 and Vita versions of Drift Stage are in the pipeline. Others less so.

I knew the indie PS people would be on to them sooner or later. Great news.

Just checked the kickstarter and i hope it happens as the soundtrack is great. They have mega drive and dance with the dead doing music which is perfect for this game.

Well one of the updates from the guy making it says something about how he may have some additional help or funding incase the kickstarter doesn't work, so hopefully it'll come through.

Also, on a slightly different note here's Drive Any Track, a music-based racer that uses your music ala Audiosurf that's coming to Early Access next week:

That vid of 90s Arcade Racer running on Wii U looks great! The graphical vibrancy is terrific and the music captures that nineties feeling. I hope that we soon see the game roar onto the starting grid.

Can we split these games into two different threads, I'm wildly anticipating 90s Racer and have zero interest in Drift Stage.

Really no reason why we shouldn't be able to play this if we want to...

As with Sega Rally, the issue is licences due to the use of real cars. Hence why Daytona was rereleased but others weren't.

I don't think Scud Race was as popular as Daytona either.

That new vid looks good, Nick. I'd love to see this actually launch on Wii U - is there any indication of when the game will arrive?

I actually wouldn't, I already though Wii U was a poor choice when they announced it, now that the console's in what appears to be it's final year a port seems utterly pointless.

PS4/XBO/PC would be the best place for this.

If it can achieve a small profit and is relatively simple to port over, I don't see the problem with a Wii U version. I mean Vita isn't exactly selling loads but most indies get released on there, probably cause it's a nice little money maker.

Game is looking great btw :)
