that is true, but america did produce some good grunge/rock bands in the 90s too.

this country had huge talent, now we rely on x factor, and sold out stars (and thats just the entertainment business).

That's just not true though, there's an incredible amount of hugely talented Britons in the entertainment industry. I can't be arsed to go off into a list, but just think about it for a minute; there's a fair few.

i dont think we are doing as well as we used to in the music industry. pop music comes and goes, so that leaves space for rock - jazz - metal - classical. there are no great rock bands, or at least no were near as there used to be. all the best bands in the world are british, thats a fact, but the list of the great band started dieing out once the 1990s appeared. just to get this clear im not trying to piss anyone off, just having a nice debate.

Yeah fair enough, I've got a bit of a short fuse today for some reason. I guess this is really just coming down to tastes, but in terms of music at least I'd say British music is as good as it has been since Britpop at the moment. Sounds like you disagree, but everything ebbs and flows corresponding to everyones' tastes. We'll probably be arguing against each other the opposite points in about 5 years time. The bands at the Olympic party were still a wanky pile of gooseberry fool though, but what do you expect when you put sports "personalities" in charge of anything?
