Difficult to say, its been years since I played it on anything and I never had the Saturn version.

I'm pretty sure its better than it was on Dreamcast, I do remember that being absolutely horrible to control.

While I despise everything you are at a cellular level, I've got to say I'm pretty impressed with your early lap records, so kudos on that.

On the beginner track my downfall is always that last corner (I'm not smashing into it anymore like on the Saturn/d-pad), it's really hard to pull off the drift you need to keep your speed up. I find it's always best to drift so your nose in just touching the edge of the grass on the left, and exiting on the left side of the road. You may be doing something completely different mind.

:) i use to play 8 player daytona there all the time in the 90's . I remember when they had sega world there and they had all the cars setup with a camera each and they had a guy commentating. Awesome times.

God I suck at this but it's so brilliant. I feel handling fuckups are my fault, rather than getting confused on terrible CCEdition.

Just beaten second course, but I was in 17th place  And time limit set to Easy. I really need to practice how to drift. :C

Here's a real question.

Does it have a story?

No, you need to slow down and use the analogue acceleration at sharp corners, you shouldn't really need to drift at all on the second course.

There were a couple of corners I just couldn't do, till I realised you have to be going less than a certain speed to go round them without losing control.

It has a setting and what you could call characters, theres also a beginning and an end goal. Things happen inbetween.

By some peoples definition thats a story.

IIRC in the arcade version you could take corners waaayyyy faster than normal by playing in manual and initiating a drift by going from 4th straight to second, then 3rd 4th again. Hard to get right but you could get some stupid drifts going without slowing down.

I'm getting absolutely nowhere with that technique, the best I can do is drift entering the Sonic wall and grit my teeth hoping the back end doesn't scrap the wall.

As for the last corner on Dinosaur Canyon I find entering from the left and scraping across the grass to bring the best results.

Oh I drift on the that corner on the 1st track, but its also helpful to slow down a little.

Drifting is faster, but on the really tricky corners its much safer to not drift, basically if you can't do a fast corner without touching the wall or going on the grass, you will be faster in the end just slowing down.

At least thats the way it seems to me.

OMG It's a dream come true

Frustrating how crap I am now but I'm slowly getting it back, nowhere near my Saturn days though, must be age :(

The last corner on Dinosaur Canyon is still an absolute bitch, been driving me crazy for 18 years and I'm still not quite sure what the best way to approach it is.

I'll be on about 7:15, do you fancy hosting Rik?

Are we going with option A or B for catchup? Guess we could start with catchup on then switch it off after a few races.
