So you apply a mod to a game. Can you still play the original game which has been modded or not?

So if i've modded ArmaII for DayZ, is there an option in-game of choosing to launch ArmaII or DayZ or is a modded game unable to 'revert' to its original form?

DayZ is Multi-Player so shouldn't affect your single player missions (Unless your Cal...) just launch ARMA 2 and you can play ARMA 2. When I want to play DayZ I just launch to a server on the Six Updater/Launcher.

If it's a true PC game: Yes.

If it's a gooseberry fool console port: Maybe.
