Ah, I remember the good old days of the election poll. Of course, I look back on it with good spirits, but I quite clearly remember Eighty being behind by three votes when it disappeared and then ahead by one when it came back out .

Good times.

I found myself laughing a lot while reading through the thread that caused KP's banning, therefore it gets the thumbs up from me. The insult was really harsh, but really funny. I like Peter Crisp and I know it must be awful for him right now, but what is the world if we can't make jokes out of it? :D

I do seem to remember there was some funny goings on with the Eighty for mod poll, something about deleting accounts that looked dodgy which had a knock on affect on the poll? (I'm not sure that can even happen, would deleting an account take away votes made in polls if so way don't deleted accounts posts disappear?).

Either way, no need to gang up on Winckle it was a common belief that something was afoot.

I don't mind people having a laugh about the situation but that's not how KPs post came across. It just felt like an insult meant to try to cow (I'm not sure if this is the right spelling in this context) me into submission and just go away.

You've got to be strong, Petey boy. You tell that son of a bitch where to go and let him know who's boss!

I remember the poll well, just before the end it was even, I voted for Eight right at the end. The rest as they say is history....

One vote can make a difference.

KP should have got a warning for the comment about Peter Crisp, but as for the whole oh he was a bellend, that's garbage. Saying consoles are superior because of where they're played is the single worst argument I've ever heard, that's like me saying oh I play my 360 in a walk in fridge therefore PS3 is obviously the better system.

That poll was most certainly not rigged. Despite the fact that there were more votes cast than registered 'real' members of the forum. :shifty:

Sony's PR will get to that eventually. :D

And it isn't "like you saying" that at all. A PC does not exist to be a gaming system for use in a lounge, whereas a console does. It's a perfectly legitimate argument. PCs have keyboards and mice. PCs have hefty towers. PCs are designed to be used in an office environment. Consoles are designed to be put under the telly to play games.

From the desk of Andrew Eighthours:

A reminder about taste and decency (PC gaming) on GRcade...

I'm Andrew Eighthours, and i'm here to ask you a question.

Is a man not entitled to the game on his console? NO says the PC gamer, the hardware shouldn't be proprietary, NO says the mod maker, we can't release our projects.

I rejected those answers. I chose something different. I chose. GRcade.

Where the console gamer would not fear the freedom of PC gaming, where the outcome of polls would not be determined by petty democracy, where the PC could be constrained by the console.

And with the game of your console, GRcade could be your forum as well.

Fun fact 34b: The voice of Andrew Ryan is the same person who played Quark in DS9.

Ok lets change that example around just a bit, so you can see why it is so stupid.

Lets say that you believe the 360's web cam is superior to a hand held camcorder. Why do you think this?

Well despite the fact that one is of a lower quality, and can't do as many things, the 360 camera is to be used with a 360 and therefore used in your living room where you are comfortable. However the camcorder can be used anywhere, and there is a video on the internet of someone being attacked by a tiger while riding an elephant, therefore the 360 camera is superior because you are less likely to be attacked by a tiger while riding an elephant.

Because your surroundings or things that happen to you are directly related to the console right?

He's actually entirely correct, but keep on ploughing through there, Eighty. Choo choo, it's the Little Train That Could.
