If they aren't going to modernize significantly, like the other surviving European royal houses did, and throw Prince Andrew out to be eaten by the prison system, then, shove them into the dustbin of history.

Hard disagree. They need to go backwards, not modernise.

I want King Henry IX (12 wives) to usher in a reign of terror.

I volunteer to assist in the necessary head removal of all dissenters on behalf of his majesty.

King Henry IX will hear about your collection of false monarch tea towels and you'll be the first one beheaded in the Tower.

Get rid. Confiscate their land and property and use it for the public good.

I'd get rid of them. They're a corrupt, antiquated embarrassment. The amount they bring in from tourism is a tiny, tiny percentage of the money this country gets from general tourism. Plus we'd own the palaces so people can still pay to see them. If we're going to have a head of state they should be elected.

Also, strawberry float the bank holiday. The (enforced by work) bank holiday's connected to anything royal didn't actually benefit me in my old job since I was expected to either pay back the time (at time convenient for work rather than me, obviously) or use a day of annual leave to pay it back. I'm actually losing money this bank holiday since I can't work.

Please do not post this in the "No Context" thread

I didn't read the question and voted that I support the Monarchy. :fp:

I'm a dedicated Republican and I welcome more to the fold!

Replace them with Stone Henge (where the demons dwell).

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

They really don't.

Don't they? I understood it to be in the billions.

Royal related stuff brings in tourists. But the vast majority of that stuff will bring in the tourists even if the Royal's are kicked out.

Yeah the gaffs and Castle's will bring tourists in, possible more if they can walk about inside these places...

Irish lady I work with is looking forward to it. "I love the pageantry and the traditions!". She was a little shocked that I couldn't care less.

Maybe we could move Charlie over to Dublin?

I walk about inside the places sometimes, they're nice.

Mind you, unlike Ireland, none of our castles feature a stone you can snog.
