Are you insane? There's a very clear equivalent on everybody's profile.

Gamerscore is not a count of the number of Achievements you have.

Neither are trophies.

You level up as you gain more trophies, which I actually kinda prefer to the point accumulation of Achievements.

I'm not referring to your Trophy Count. There's a very clear "Gamer Level" there.

You mean 'Experience Points'

Like I said they don't do the same thing as Gamerscore does, read my post on the first page.

I was looking at Trophies today whilst bored and the concept seems to be much better than the gamerscore system.

They do everything your post on the first page details that Gamerscore does.

Every PS3 retail game with trophies has the exact same total Trophy Points (1000 Gamerscore) to be allocated, divided into Gold, Silver and Bronze (different G's per task). Every PSN game has a similar, but smaller tally to stick to (200 Gamerscore).

You can compare trophies earned (acheivements) with your friends. You compare exactly what percentage of availale Trophy Points (Gamerscore) have been earned for each individual game by you and your friends at any time. You can look at any of your friends or met players' "Gamer Level" (Total Gamerscore) at any time.

Only Buzz, Uncharted, Stardust and Eden so far, sadly. :(

Warhawk tomorrow, though. :)

I like the idea of Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum Trophies more than a point system, but I also prefer the total score on 360 to the Level system on PS3. I'd much rather compare total number of Trophies than the Level. Sony's system needs to get fully integrated into every new game before it will be a true comparison, but it looks good from early signs. Both add to the gameplay in a very similar way, the differences between them both are very small.

I think the reason for the level system is so that when HOME finally launches you will be able to earn extra stuff by increasing your level. Atleast that's what I'm guessing.

Insomniac have said no to both Ratchet and Resistance trophies patches sadly.
And nothing is known about MGS4 at the moment.

BUT! Resistance 2 will have them, so that bodes well for the next Ratchet and Clank game. :)

Nope, although Ratchet pretty much already has the same thing anyway with Skill Points.
Insomniac said all future games will have trophies starting from Resistance 2, but they don't have time to add them to old games and then go through QA again (plus they already have skill points anyway).

What's the difference?

Stupid question.

Yeah there are rumours going around that your overall level will have an effect on what you're allowed to do or achieve in HOME. While this is only a rumour and a lot of people have lost interest in home at the moment, i think it could be interesting, provided it's done right.
