Common knowledge at this point, mate. But for someone who doesn't earn megabucks, paying in instalments and having to pay a bit extra will be the best way.

strawberry float that. Get a 0% credit card. Buy iPad and phone outright. Pay back monthly and ensure final payment is made before 0% rate ends. SIM only deal for the phone.

Cheapest over the long run and just as easy to budget the monthly instalments for.

I'm not that skint!! I'm just very careful. I could go out and buy a dozen i-macs with what's sitting in the business but I know how much hard work it was to accumulate that saving so I like to keep it that way. It's easy to spend, far, far harder to earn!!

It's not about being skint, it's just saving money.

Or I guess you were gonna buy it outright anyway.

Generally it's good advice though, credit is all the same so get the cheapest if you go down that route.

Personally I'm not one for anything but mobile phones on finance as at least that includes a service.

I ALWAYS buy stuff outright. NEVER use any form of credit or loans. Even did that for my last car and for the work van, although the luxury of being able to do that might now be over!! If I've learn't one lesson in life, (although not nearly as early as I should have done!), it's save, save, save, (and then save a little bit more!)

Good work.

Sadly I have to borrow a bit until my business pays back, but I've only been going 2 years. The usual, tools and equipment that slowly pay for themselves.

I was 'lucky' GG - I used part of my redundancy payment to get the van, got some grants from the Quakers - national and my local group.

Sounds like you are doing ok. I'm only a little bit further down the line at 2 1/2 years and tbh the first 6 months were all a bit pretend i.e. working for friends.

You'll know by now that the fun never stops when you are self-employed!!

Indeed, I'm currently up all night making T-shirts for a networking event where I have a stall tomorrow - 125 people all potential customers. 2/3rds of my display kit showed up (just missing some perspex stuff), so hopefully pick up some customers (that aren't mostly friends!) tomorrow. :)

So I finally got myself an i-pad thanks to all your advice. In the end I plumped for the Air2 over the mini4 - it was worth an extra £30 for the additional screen size to show customers stuff. Also got myself a bullet-proof case for taking it out into people's gardens. Thoroughly enjoying it so far and have set up an Instagram account:-

This is the first, (and no doubt the last!), social media I have ever used!! I am taking the photos on a 9 year old digital camera - it was a good one then, Olympus, cost £300 at the time, a bit dated now but if it ain't broke.......
Thanks again chaps. Your advice was invaluable.

Nice one, still :toot: . It's such a cool bit of kit; I've had my iPad Mini for six weeks now and I love it!
