Pac-Man clone where you eat torches instead of pills, then the power-up allows you to vanquish the darkness.

I would have hoped it's a full-on retail release. :(

I wonder if they're going to do an episodic release structure (certainly a conceptual possibility, given the structure the original took, that and it seems to be named after the TV Show from the first game) and then perhaps release a physical release at the end of it. Something similar to the way Siren: Blood Curse was released.

I can't see it just being one XBLA game, there's too much potential there. I imagine there'll be something interesting about the release strategy.

Well the good news is they said only a slice of their team is working on the next Alan Wake release (presumably the rumoured XBLA title, as they specifically stated the next Alan Wake release isn't Alan Wake 2), so the rest of the team is probably working on Alan Wake 2 since we already have evidence of that existing as well (e.g. the LinkedIn CV that listed working on: “Alan Wake 2″ [In-Game Cinematic]).

It's not rumored, Night Springs is real, I've seen the screengrabs as it was leaked off PartnerNet recently and has lead to a new large ban wave of black market DevKits (mainly Chinese ones). It's caused a serious legal issue for the person responsible for the leak (wouldn't want to be HIM right now! :fp: ).

What's even better is that he posted the screens on a site where developers and publishers hang about as it's a high-level Beta/unreleased console/game site. strawberry floating idiot! :fp: :fp:

A cluster of new Remedy job adverts has dropped interesting hints at what may be Alan Wake 2.

Four of the five positions mentioned a "AAA console project". And one specifically referenced Alan Wake.

"You will be working on the next iteration of Remedy's unique world-class rendering engine that was previously used in Alan Wake," outlined the vacancy for a 3D graphics programmer.

Microsoft hasn't announced a second Alan Wake game. In June Microsoft Game Studios' Phil Spencer said he didn't think Remedy had signed the possible project with a publisher, which suggested Microsoft may not be involved at all.

And that, in turn, suggested that a second Alan Wake game could be multi-platform.

All we've heard about the future of Alan Wake is that there is one; Remedy told Eurogamer in May this year that more Alan Wake is coming. But the next Alan Wake won't, however, be Alan Wake 2 or DLC.

Does that mean the next Alan Wake will be an iOS or Android game, then? The fifth job advert, for a game programmer, supports that notion.

"As part of the digital team we expect you to live and breathe games and have a real passion towards creating the best game experiences on various platforms," the vacancy read. "The target platforms include iOS & Android, PC and Consoles."

Counted as "beneficial" is experience making PS3, 360 and Wii games; experience with online multiplayer implementation; and experience with the Unity and Unreal game engines.

It could be that Remedy's next Alan Wake project will be an iOS/Android/social title. The "AAA console project" could theoretically, therefore, be Alan Wake 2.

It sort of is simular. They are both "movie" type games in a way. 3rd person, same type of basic gameplay, and both can get repetitive.

It's nothing like Uncharted.

This might come across as sounding an even more weird comparison, but I felt it was closer to Heavy Rain. :shifty:

I think anyone who enjoyed one of these will definitely enjoy the other. I think the first Alan Wake was just about right and it was only when I started on the first DLC that I found it was becoming too similar.

Yes?

It's a hybrid of them both.

Regardless of what it is I'm looking forward to Alan Wake next adventure reveal.

I thought Remedy said several times that their next project WON'T be Alan Wake 2 or Alan Wake DLC? :? Before i would have said it'll be a spin off where we maybe play as Thomas Zane and Remedy would save a proper Alan Wake sequel for the next Xbox but now i'm not so sure. I do wonder what consoles this next Wake project will be out for? Will Microsoft really have let another exclusive game slip through their fingers...wouldn't surprise me to be honest.

Quick clarification re: Alan Wake VGA announcement: It's a standalone download game through Xbox Live, not Alan Wake 2.

Yeah i didn't think it would be Alan Wake 2. I'm going to stick by my Thomas Zane prediction though. With it being a XBLA game, i wonder if we'll be getting a more experimental style of Alan Wake game?

They've not exactly been sensible at keeping good exclusives.

Maybe this'll be the Kinect Night Falls thing?

Hopefully. If Microsoft are smart they'll snap up Remedy and do something creative with this IP.

I really hope they do. It'll add some real depth to their portfolio of studios.
