I'd check the thread again because you have missed some ratings people have given.

Grooveshark: Disc1 | Disc2

It's quite long so you don't have to listen to both CDs if you don't want to.

Not available in Germany.

Music and this country don't mix. Damn. I'll find it though.

Such as?

It's a pretty tiresome process adding all the reviews and scores into the OP, so if I haven't added one of your scores let me know and I'll update it. :)

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Weld.

I was initially quite looking forward to this, as I wasn't entirely familiar with that much of their work. But then I saw it was a live album. To me, live albums are just fan service, that extra piece of merchandise to sell on to your most ardent fans. The production is always worse, the vocals are wobbly and the atmosphere of a live gig is near impossible to capture on record. There are exceptions (Nirvana's Unplugged In New York springs to mind) but generally they're not something I'd consider.

That said, I'm happy to give it a go, so I listened to the majority of the record once and about half of it a second time. It's not for me. I liked the first track, but I found myself quickly disinterested the longer the album went on. Tracks were overlong and ventured into indulgent territory one too many times.

4/10.

Up to the end of the thread I think you have missed mine and Pred's review for Anung's album. Other than the reviews just done for the latest album, it is complete.

Gave the album a quick run through yesterday and thought it was pretty good. Will need to try it a few more times though to be sure.

OK, all updated now I think. If anyone thinks I've missed one of their reviews off the OP, please let me know. :)

Only two reviews for Neil Young so far guys (and one of those was 'Great choice 10/10'!). Let's get some more in.

I'm going to give this a listen to later on today. Rather bizarrely I have never really listened to much of Neil Young. I say bizarrely as many of my peers have raved about him for years. He has been an influence on many of my friends' bands and bands that I like. But whenever I think of giving him a listen I sort of go "Ach, you know what? I can't be arsed"

Maybe its his voice that puts me off, or the fact that people think I should like him. It is the same with the Beatles.

Beatles did this, Beatles did that.

strawberry float the Beatles.

Aye. So Neil Young, I'll give him a listen later on.

I didn't know if that review was serious or not

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Weld: 8/10

Never really listened to Neil Young, only a song here and there. Still this is the sort of rock I can like, none of this new shite. No crap songs, no crap lyrics just good music. And it was a live album as well, top stuff.

Not listened to the whole album yet, only the first couple of songs. Its been a bit of a relief listening to this. Imagine, if you can, that for years you hadn't bothered listening to Neil Young, despite everyone you know holding him in high esteem. Then discovering that he was amazing. All those years wasted.

Luckily, going by the first couple of songs, I've not wasted those years. I'll listen to the rest of it, but so far so uninspiring.

Weld gets 4/10. I've never really got the point of Neil Young. This album just confirmed that me and him will just have to agree to disagree. I didn't hate it, it just trudged along, feeling worthy and self important, whilst I decorated the kitchen.

My wife popped her head around the corner a few times and said "Still listening to Neil Young? Poor you. Kitchen's looking good!"

Any more Weld reviews? It's going the same way again, which is a shame. C'mon guys it doesn't take that much effort!

Weld - 8/10

It took me a while to get into Neil Young originally, think it was mainly due to his vocals, i likez him now though. Rust Never Sleeps and Powderfinger in particular are me faves. As a live album Weld is pretty great, lots of his classic songs on it.

Got around to listening to it now.

Thoughts in an hour or so. Love these songs, but ashamed to admit I haven't listened to many live versions despite there being a number of the CD's lying around the house.

8/10

Thoroughly enjoyable with some great standout tunes.

Okay Apologies for not keeping, up. Annoyingly I did instantly listen to Cape Dory, but did not write anything, so now we shall have a super post of reviews.

Lets Start with Cape Dory, okay I liked it better than I thought, the second play through I enjoyed it a lot more. Quite a semmery retro vibe, quite chilled I may give them another listed, still terrified by the album cover though... 7/10

Okay lets see Coffinworm, well when I was younger I liked a lot of metal, but I have never liked anything with vocals like this, and I am sorry to say I was mainly just hoping for this to end whilst listening to. I do not think anything else I can say would change that 1/10

Okay Neil Young, I watched him a few years back at Glastonbury, quite like him, and this is pretty cool. Really good quality live album, still really do not know why I do not seem to know any of his songs, when he seems so well known. But still like it so I think I will go with an 8

I believe thats me all caught up, Go me!

Ah, good stuff. We've had another late flurry of votes, which means we've got five players on full reviews. Off to Random.org to pick a player. It's player 3! Oh bollocks, that's me. Oh well, it's about time I had a good OnlyShallowing anyway.

Incoming....

Oh No Ono - Eggs

I picked this as I have an unhealthy obsession with everything Scandinavia at the moment. It's multi-layered, interesting and fun, although the vocalist may prove a point of contention. Enjoy!
