listening to everyone knows right now...

its alright, id probably listen to it. a bit too samey all the way through and the guy doesnt have a 'defined' voice, couldnt tell it apart from like... a normal persons voice. dunno, ill listen to the album nd get back to this

edit 1: why did you post that, im just playing good as new and already its better lol. still not a fan of the guys voice but love the sound and old school chill out beats#

having it all is really nice too, still not too crazy about the vocals but i guess it lets the music stand out more

I'm going to give Vacationer - Gone 3/10. I think they listened to Paul Simon and Vampire Weekend and decided to copy it but make it as insipid as they could. Marketing music. I almost fell asleep listening to it. Which isn't a good move when I'm driving home from work.

A few songs threatened to show some signs of originality/life but they ended up drowning in a wave of blandness once the songs started.

Vacationer - Gone.

Didn't like it, didn't dislike it. As OnlyShallow said it sounds like marketing music.

Therefore I'd have to give it an average score of

5/10

I didn't mind Everyone knows, but the rest of the album did not grab me at all, 4/10
I feel harsh with that score, but it really was not for me at all

Right, time for round two then. New players are picked by the people who participate the most, and as 17 people listened to and reviewed the first album, 17 people go into the draw for the next choice.

Off to random.org for a number between 1 and 17. 14 is the result.

The Crimson Clown, it's time to choose! :)

Didn't mind the last choice, but hoping for something that's a little bit more exciting for the next pick. In Crimson we trust.

Think this is going to be a fairly divisive pick.

It's an instrumental album made with this. I'd say it's more 'mood music' than music you'd rock out to but it's amazing how many different atmospheres he's able to create with what I'm assuming, is an extremely difficult instrument to use and one I would have thought would be quite limited.

On a technical level it was good I guess but I found the music rather boring and repetitive.

Just started listening to this, only on the second song but I'm really enjoying it so far. Will have to see if it can stay interesting for a whole album.

Edit: Started to get boring towards the end, but I still enjoyed it, and I imagine it would be great as background noise in certain situations. My favourite song was Vanishing.

Jean Baudin - Solace [7]

Jean Baudin - Solace: 5/10

Interesting. I like instrumental albums, or generally moody albums like these. Transcend is a great opener and I really enjoyed that. Never Odd or Even was the next highlight, but it's the floaty acoustic guitar sounding tracks that tended to be quite lengthy that dragged the whole thing down. Preferred it when he threw in a few stranger sounding tunes, like Willard Library.

Probably wouldn't listen to it again, and I imagine it was half chosen because Crimson Clown enjoyed one or two tracks and threw them in a playlist. Maybe, maybe not. So overall, interestinbg but really struggled to hold my attention after 15 or so minutes. Glad to have heard of this though.

No, I like the whole album actually. The first half much more so than the second but it never really dragged for me.

Fair enough, I have similar albums that really grip me. Depends what captures your imagination with these things and ends up being quite personal. A great choice though, 5 is low, but that's really for half an album I enjoyed, and the other half not so much.

Thought it was a Chapman stick at first.

Think I'm going to enjoy this instrumental album.

Loved it. Have always enjoyed a good instrumental and this guy is very impressive from a technical standpoint. Would certainly recommend looking into the Chapman Stick if you enjoy this kind of music.

Loved the mellow and progressive nature of each song, the way they developed and then blended into the next was a nice touch.

Solid 8/10

Jean Baudin, Solace - 5/10

Goes a bit too noodley in places and theres too much delay pedal going on; much prefer when he keeps it simpler. Some of it was interesting enough but it never felt like much more than background music for the most part. Can't really see myself listening to it that often again (if ever).

In a similar vein, but in my opinion better -
