Still not sure if I'm actually enjoying this or if I'm just playing through it for the satisfaction of being able to say that I have. Just got to the Seegson Synthetics plant. Mission 5/6?

Wander towards the guys on top of the wall to see if we can come to some kind of mutually beneficial arrangement. Fella just points his gun at me and says "You're not welcome here. Go away". Message received, thinks I. And so I turn around and head back towards the elevator and the guy shoots me anyway. I know it's a stealth game and all that, but it really grates that even when you do exactly what the other party says, there's no way of avoiding a confrontation once they've seen you (it's the same with the Working Joes - "You're not authorised to be here, so rather than simply show you the door I'm going to throttle you until you're no longer a problem"). I'd have preferred it a lot more if there was a bit more variation, rather than just "everyone is your enemy avoid the hell out of them" (sure, there's no reasoning with the alien, but what about the actual people? Everyone's just devolved into a "shoot first, no questions" mentality and it's a bit... unbelievable, for want of a better word to describe a game where the villain is a walking penis monster with acid for blood)

It's getting a bit tedious, but I've started, so I'll finish. Or at least play until a better game comes along, anyway. Come on, PS+. Give me something good...

I agree about people being mad eeejits but later on you do find people fleeing from you so they aren't all the same. The androids are bastards for a reason which you find out later on.

IIRC most of the survivors don't know it's an alien though. The majority of people who have actually seen it have been brutally murdered.

Ordered this today with some Xmas money, £19.95 so not bad at all. I do worry I'm not actually going to want to ever play it though, just the thought of it feels me with dread. Will probably go for the new novice difficulty!

Nah, stop with the Novice' stuff lads. I get scared playing Minecraft and Dead Rising 3, seriously this game is fine. I'm lying of course but you do get used to the fear. Tip is to keep moving, as much as you want to freeze when the Alien is about, try to keep moving towards your objective, it takes a leap of faith at first but do it.

Easily my Game of 2014.

Dont stay in same place for too long, this is me a few days ago. :dread:

Really getting into this now it's showing me more of the ship and there's some more interaction with others. I love the few glimpses you get at the nearby planet. That feeling of looking out a spaceship at a galaxy is awesome.

Only downer on that front is that I don't especially feel like I'm wandering around a spaceship the Dead Space layout and design I seem to remember felt a bit more logical and spacey.

Is this game known for being buggy?

Earlier in the game when I picked up the motion tracker The game kind of spazzing out and left it floating there in mid air. Now my plasma cutter seems to have vanished. I acquired it and used it to cut through something. Several hours later it seems to have vanished from my inventory :?

Approaching the final hours it feels like and loving it still, had some issues navigating the map after trying to lock the Alien in somewhere. One thing that seems to be coming up more are the typed and audio logs which seem to be their own self contained story but I'm having issues following what's going on with them.

Yeah game had a few bugs. Annoying one I encountered was the room containing the flamethrower wouldn't open so couldn't progress and had to restart the level. The cutter has a couple of variations so a good few doors can't be cut unless it's upgraded.

I'm starting to agree with whoever said the Alien encounters were too frequent. I've seen so much of it now its starting to lose its impact and has become borderline annoying in its prevention of me doing anything.

Progression feels more down to luck than anything else at the moment.

I have to say despite the space station becoming really awesome, in the last few hours this has really gone down in my estimation. The Alien is frustrating as strawberry floated, it doesn't matter what I do it's always right there, stealth is entirely pointless because it's at my location regardless so it just becomes a series of point to point sprints so I can get to new save stations.

So disappointing that the game has resorted to this bullshit to artificially create difficulty.

Finally got rid of the bastard, pretty awesome way to see him go, shame everything proceeding was just a cutscene. The strawberry floater must have killed me about 100 times, 75 of which were not my fault, unbelievably frustrating.

That last bit though, so so pretty, when you get into the bit before and the windows open up to reveal the station, planet and sun, it's just gorgeous

Would love some framed art work from this game.

Picked this up for the sum of 50 pence thanks to my nectar points. Look forward to getting scared after half an hour and never playing it again.

I believe Cal bought a book of concept art of the game? Ask him where he got it? They may also do framed art work as well???

Ramping up beautifully in the last few hours, loving it  :datass:

Just bought the Alien Anthology too so going to watch the original tonight and then finish this :datass:
