Yeah strawberry float this.

Hated that level. You can use a computer to set up an environmental kill but it's a one shot deal. I ran away when I could and used pipebombs/molotvs when I didn't have a choice.

Same and try and have max medkit needles. I actually got the trophy for killing a Joe with nothing but your door wrench thingy in that area

This is £20 in GAME currently.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Only when bought with any other game or hardware, at least in my local, it's worth noting (PS4 / Xbox One).

It's £24.99 at Game.co.uk I noticed. I'm tempted to pick it up, as I lose my reward points (£6.44) by the middle of the month if I don't buy anything from them. :(

Including the Ripley edition, which has both DLC...

When this game works, it's absolutely brilliant and captures the atmosphere of the first film perfectly. Incredibly tense and engrossing. And when I say "when it works", I'm referring to the tension destroying checkpoints that unfortunately sour the experience. Getting killed by the alien and losing half an hour of careful exploration is really jarring and actually makes it difficult for me to recommend to people. Otherwise I would be telling all my friends to go out and get it immediately as everything else is perfect. It's such a shame.

Still, my wife has shown interest in this after reading a review so I've picked up a PS4 copy for her to play. We've just watched the first 2 films as well so I'm looking forward to hearing her impressions. Think I'm up to chapter 11 now.

Started playing this and it's tough. I think I'm pretty good at games in general, and stealth games too. I'm only on level 3 but I'm finding lots of trial and error already, and what seems like just a single path to complete the section successfully.

I'm intrigued though, I like the setting and I'm hooked even though the pacing is pretty slow.

There are plenty of save points around. I'd done my fare share of dying in this but never losing that amount of time :?

Even if the Alien was about and the save point would warn me of enemies I'd still risk a save (either scare it away with fire or wait for it to get bored and hop back into a vent) :slol:

Would be interested to hear your opinions on the ending of the game. Wasn't entirely chuffed myself.
I thought we would have been treated to a larger cut scene explaining what happened to Amanda. Even if it still left it open for a sequel I wouldn't have minded, but the short, vague scene didn't really satisfy for me. Still it's one of only a few gripes about an otherwise fantastic game.

She presumably got picked up by a Weyland-Yutani ship. Whether she was impregnated by a facehugger while in the second hive is a question that will be presumably answered in the sequel.

Yep, save system is pathetic! So frustrating. Playing on hard and got chased by synthetics so didn't have chance to save before jumping in the lift. Exited the lift and walked under a vent and died. It took me all the way back to mission start. Awful!

Are we supposed to overwrite mission save (yes or no) when we hit a save point?

Yes overwrite. And I thought it always saved when exiting a lift? I swear I'd always see the save symbol flash onscreen.

If its canon to both Alien and Aliens then its a no for that last bit.

Though!

Perhaps Amanda Ripley did die at the hands (Or claws) of the Aliens and Weyland Yutani fed Ripley bullshit on her growing old and dying while she was in hypersleep..

I just struck bloody lucky toward the the end of a Mission 3. After struggling to get past the room at the start where you find the broken door hack tool when I made my way back there I heard
the Alien strawberry floating up the enemies that gave me so much trouble earlier. I didn't realise after the carnage died down it was still there, I was just casually swanning around raiding his victims corpses but somehow I wasn't spotted.

Nice one, not noticed it for lifts. I always load 'current save'. I'm enjoying this, it's tough and it's properly unnerving, even though it shouldn't be. It's a computer game for strawberry floats sake. But, there is something about sitting under a bed with a motion tracker and you see the alien walk in that is awesome.

After repeated deaths at the hands of the psychic, teleporting Alien I'm starting to find this more frustrating than scary right now. Took me bloody ages to get past the bit just after you turn the generators on in the hospital.

I get that they want you to never feel truly safe but I feel Resident Evil 3 managed that pretty well despite Nemesis encounters being scripted. You had still that feeling he could show up at any point, for the first playthrough at least.

I want to explore, find text and audio logs so I can get more of the backstory instead of heading to my next objective as quickly and quietly as possible.

I appreciate that such a change may fundamentally break the game but when fear turns to frustration you don't have a horror game anymore.

Can you? Didn't realise you could do that... but is it safe to do so?

Later on in the story, you can. I'm guessing about chapter 14ish.

It's slightly earlier than that (chapter 12?).

Relatively safe. You can actually go back to any previous area at any time IIRC, but it's safer at certain specific times in the game.
