I am enjoying this, but I've seen enough to chuck it back to boomerang and hope for shadow of mordor/COD for the weekend. I made it to level 10, and although the flamethrower changes the game somewhat, i can't be arsed to finish it.

The atmosphere is great, the objectives are getting a little repetitive and the odd insta deaths are frustrating. I came across a downed synthetic, waiting for the QTE prompt.... Nope, dead. Earlier, in the hospital, goo dripping from a vent, skirt round, next vent same, as I start skirting that one the door to my left opens and out he pops, dead.... WTF.

I'll finish this at Christmas when it's £17.99 on PS4

I've been giving the whole idea that the Alien seems to be able to teleport some thought and I came to this conclusion.... does it turn out
there's more than one
?

People giving up before Chapter 14. :( It's one of the best chapters in the entire game.

Mori, I'm at the bit where you contact Apollo, is that anywhere near what you're on about?

It's the chapter right after that, make sure you're wearing headphones.

Down below the core. Now this is more like it! Aliens-esque environments and face huggers!

Picked this up on PS4, grabbed the Ripley edition from game for £24-ish. Shall have to have a go soon. Though I have Sunset Overdrive to crack on with and MCC and a strawberry float ton more. Why can't I finish a game without buying more?

I'd keep Sunset Overdrive running in tandom. You'll need something that's lighthearted as this game will piss you off on various occasions and you will need a happier/ funnier toned game to relieve you!

And done…..finally and thankfully. This game was too long and at times out stayed it’s welcome. I really wanted to throw the controller at the screen in frustration. For example you're about to escape to the Torrens, just getting suited and booted, then the alien appears from the shaft and proceeded to drag you away to cocoon you, yet 99.9% of the rest of the game all it wanted to do was kill you, but it then forces you to play yet another chapter.... or a case of flip lever on generator in room A, got to room B the other side of map to open door, the generator cuts out so go back to room A to flip the lever again. It was long and drawn out and didn't need to be at times....

Oh and the ending :|

That said, this game excelled. The graphics, the sound design, the story, it's an Alien fan boy's wet dream! Probably the best Alien game since 'Trilogy'.

As a gamer, I'll give it 7/10, as a fan of Alien it's 8.5/10 (a different twist on head and heart....)

I'd finished mission 18 and 19 last night and upon starting 18 I was very low on flamethrower fuel so was very tense all the way to the end.

9/10 for me, loved the majority of it apart from Apollo's core area and having no weapons to fight a handful of Joes!

Just finished chapter 14...

Gonna play something else now and play some more tomorrow. I really want to see what happens next but I've been playing for a while now so don't want to get fatigued and rush through the end.

Jesus that chapter under the core was intense. With headphones on there were noises seemingly all around me. Can't play this anymore for today, need to calm down a little :D

I've been back to this after a few weeks and did a few hours today. On the mission where you have tolockdown the stairwell and the server room.

Absolutely loved the flashback to LV426. The atmosphere was strawberry floating incredible, especially outside the ship.

Think I'm gonna try and finish this over the next couple of days and start on the two Nostromo missions.

This game doesn't let up does it? Furthermore it pulled a total dick move toward the end of chapter 17 with the whole
go here, switch this on, go there, oh wait powers out go back here switch this on again and go back there routine
I only hope I have enough flamethrower fuel to see me through chapter 18 :dread:

Also I really wish Tapatalk supported inline spoiler tags as I've had a couple of major points of this game spoiled for me :(

Just finished it and I absolutely loved it.

It wouldn't have hurt to trim an hour or so from the game. While it didn't outstay it's welcome for me, by the time the ending came around I was happy to finish up.
There were one or two sections that I could have done without. Usually anything with the Androids. More human encounters would have been nice.
There was altogether too much "Go here and turn on this thing. Now go over there and turn on that thing. Oh now go back to the first thing again"

I'm going to join the long list of people praising the atmosphere. It was just flawless. Everything felt like it belonged in that universe. I could picture the characters from the first movie existing in these places.
While my initial fear passed after around mission 6 the tension really came back in the last third of the game, especially as the station is in the process of disintegrating around you! The flashback to LV426 was tremendous, the discovery of the nest under the reactor and then everything after Ricardo gets facehugged was utterly brilliant. There were so many wee moments that just absolutely made this game for me. Alien is one of my favourite movies of all time, so without it I'd almost certainly never have played this (I'm a shitebag and hate scary games), but I'm so glad I have. This is definitely in contention for my GOTY.

The ending...
I'm pretty sure that Amanda IS impregnated. There were too many eggs around her when she woke up, the two Aliens never did anything to her when you're escaping the second nest. Even the last Alien didn't kill her instantly. Plus if I'm remembering correctly once you wake up you never have to hide from another adult Alien again.
It's clear that someone picks her up. Probably the company come to collect it's new specimen.

They've definitely left it open for a sequel. I'm not sure what they could do with it though as they've pretty much nailed it here and there's nothing more I can think of that the game would benefit from. Ideally I'd like to see some Campaign DLC that wraps up the loose ends, rather than another full game.

So yeah. Alien: Isolation

Regarding your thoughts on the ending that sounds possible but surely if
Amanda was already carrying an embryo than why do the Facehuggers still attack her during the latter part of mission 18? Unless it's possible to play host to a bunch of embryos rather than just one.

Either way it is definitely wide open for a sequel of some nature.
