Amanda was already carrying an embryo than why do the Facehuggers still attack her during the latter part of mission 18? Unless it's possible to play host to a bunch of embryos rather than just one.

Either way it is definitely wide open for a sequel of some nature.

It's definitely possible that she hasn't been impregnated. It's obvious they left it vague deliberately and the facehuggers still attacking her is about the only thing I can think of that suggests she hasn't. But I guess we'll find out at some point.

Like I said I'd expect it to be resolved with some form of DLC rather than a sequel. I just don't see what a sequel could bring to the table that Isolation hasn't already done and done well. Though I'm guessing large wads of cash will make a sequel inevitable.

Can someone go back to that bit and have a mooch around to see if there's a facehugger carcuss nearby? In the films there are always are

I had a look when I first did that section and couldn't find one.

I just took a quick look and I can't see one anywhere, just the two unopened eggs. Though the room is full of little nooks as well as bits you can't reach because of the fire.

I'm half expecting that in the next game

you only play as Amanda in the prologue before she gets chestbursted.

That would be my expectation as well.

Though they could go in a completely different direction with it.

Take it back to LV426 and set the game in Hadleys Hope when Newts parents bring the Alien back to the colony. There's plenty of scope to have a game set there as we don't really know that much about what happened beyond how they find the ship. (Though it might be hard to work with that many Aliens)

Plus there's only so many times they can invent scenarios outside the movie canon before it gets silly. Sevastopol worked but trying to fit another storyline around Amanda might seem to be clutching at straws a bit.

Alien: Isolation Gets Much Easier, And Tougher, With New Difficulty Options

Horror game adds new difficulty options that cater to players who want a challenge and those who want an easier go.

Sega and developer Creative Assembly today announced new difficulty options for horror game Alien: Isolation. Think the game is too easy? Try Nightmare mode. Think it's too tough? Check out Novice.

Here's a breakdown of what to expect from the new Alien: Isolation difficulty options, available now on all platforms. Check out the wonderful-looking posters at the bottom of this story for even more.

Nightmare - This "should challenge players to beat the ultimate Alien: Isolation experience." Your motion tracker display will be damaged and undependable, while resources will be even more limited. On top of that, map systems are offline and the Alien is smarter than ever before.

"With an upgraded AI that has amplified its fatal hostility, every step you take may be your last," Creative Assembly writes. "Our monster is more adaptive, learning from your tactics with chilling speed and with intensified senses that will give you no second chances…"

Novice - Players will find more resources and ammunition, while the Alien is "more forgiving, more easily distracted, and less aggressive."

The update has been made via Steam to my game. Now to start again on Novice. This time I might actually enjoy it. Maybe. :shifty:

Got this for Christmas, enjoying the wandering around a spaceship stuff and being set in the Alien universe. It doesn't look quite as good as I'd hoped especially the space landscapes and so far any encounter human or Alien feels rather clumsy.

Recently gotten back into this, its still amazing. I'm not as scared as I was at the start but the Space station is glorious to look at. The best thing about this game is that there is nothing else like it around at the moment, nothing.

I don't think it's that good looking. It does the job and is nicely stylized in places but I don't feel like I'm missing much by not exploring every nook and cranny, and I'm a fan of this kind of lonely space station wandering.

I'm enjoying it plenty though, the encounters are still a bit iffy, I have all this equipment but no need to use any of it. Kind of like in The Last of Us but without any actual combat. It seems a bit trial and error at times too and the story feels a bit of an after thought.

The core hunting exploring and trying not to get caught is good though plus the Alien is well designed so the sense of threat feels genuine. Don't find it especially scary though.

I had a thought today where the sequel might go... I bet the ship that picks up Amanda at the end has also picked up the shuttle that was ejected into space with an alien.

It's odd, because I find the Alien itself the least well-designed thing in the game (if you ignore the less-than-stellar character designs). Whilst for me the environments are without doubt the star of the show (beautiful set designs complemented by fantastic lighting and amazing sound FX), the xeno itself seems somewhat lacking. Sure, the first few times you encounter it, it definitely makes an impression, but the longer you're able to see it keep popping up (or down) and just, well, strolling about the shop, the more it loses its impact...I'd say it even verges on becoming comical. Just watching it strut about...it's a bit jarring, tbh. I don't want to see this much of the Alien. You didn't see this much of it in the film and nor should you here. Perhaps a split-second glimpse before it kills you, or a snatched view of it disappearing behind some bulkhead or up a vent, but instead we continually get to see it walking about - like a man in a rubber suit - far too much of the time.

Less would most definitely have been more. They might have studied Scott's film down to its minutiae, but somehow they just couldn't get around the problem of how to make the Alien as constant a threat to the player as necessary without having to show and tell every five minutes. If the game loses any points for me (and it doesn't lose many), it's right there.

I want them to explore the abandoned wooden planet concept for Alien 3

Cal it depends on how you play the game, I think you're still near the start of the game and are coweing behind a desk and watching it all the time, later on you tend to hear it more than see it and to be honest the most I've seen of it lately (bar it strawberry floating killing me) is of its tail or its back for a moment. If you play the game and walk about doing stuff as apposed to frozen in fear in lockers and under desks( which I did for quite a while) you'll actually see less and less of the creature and it then in turn lends itself to the fleeting moments of fear/Panic.

The more and more I see of the space station the more I love it.

It still amazes me that the wooden planet concept was one of the least crazy of the potential Alien 3 scripts.

It was a space prison complex made from wood wasn't it? And David Twohy (sp? The director of the Riddick movies was to direct it)

Crikey the Medical bit was a bit of a nightmare, can see what they were working towards but my dying a million times kind of interrupted the flow, it just seemed impossible to avoid. The bit after with the Alien dropping down and the explosion was pretty epic though.

Yeah, that bit was tough for me too but it gets a lot easier after that. To be honest that section would probably have been a lot simpler if I'd used my items more.

I had major trouble in the 'locking down' area when you have to lock down 3 different places, took a lot of goes. I had forgotten that I had done 2 of them and saved without using any of my flame thrower fuel until I booted it up a couple of days ago. I currently have only one more thing to do in my section so ill be doing so tonight.
