Holy gooseberry fool! This is immense

*Spoilers*

Just watched Alien and heard Ripley's last message of the Nostromo, before jumping back on this and hearing another last message from the Nostromo from Ripley to her daughter :datass:

Felt pretty momentous not knowing it was coming, the same actress in the same role separated by decades but only moments in the characters life, though who knows how long in the Alien universe between recording and it being heard by her daughter. Inadvertently perfectly timed by me :datass:

Not only that but going back to Sevastopol and doing the satellite repositioning stuff to signal the Torrens, Holy strawberry float that was incredible! I seem to be flitting between the two best looking games ever with this and Driveclub. While Driveclub is leagues ahead in realism the design of this is remarkable. I would happily, happily have screenshots from that space wandering on my wall, so so pretty.

I was planning to complete it tonight but didn't want to force it. The amount of incredible gooseberry fool this game throws at you and constantly having you built to a climax of awesomeness it always feels like it's about to end. I swear I've felt 5 minutes from the credits at least half a dozen times  Each time it continues to top itself though. That last bit I'm not sure can be beaten though. Really really loving this now.

Finally started this this evening. First impressions are very good, playing in the dark with the surround sound on its incredible. As everyone says the art design is incredible, feels like the developers really wanted to make this game as close as possible to the source material and expand on the world.

I'm up to the first save point after getting the motion tracker and it feels like this is the game starting properly.

Finished :datass:

Game threw some really cheap gooseberry fool at you at the end that was totally unnecessary, probably totalled up my death count to around 1000x :dread: As wonderful as the last few minutes were I was maybe expecting something extra to top what had come a few hours before. Still spotting the moon on the planets horizon, so pretty

strawberry floating glorious experience almost from start to finish, a beautiful homage to the films and one of the most cinematic games I've ever come across. There's a hell of a lot of cheap nonsense in it and sure the game is basically one long fetch quest and you die a bazillion times but strawberry float it I loved every minute

Glorious end credit music too

Now what's all the extra stuff I get through having the Nostromo edition of the game?

Walk don't crouch, as far as I could tell it made no difference. Use flares and noise makers a strawberry float tonne to distract them away from you. Use the flamethrower in bursts and don't be afraid to walk up to them and spray it a bit to clear them off. Move whenever possible even if they're in the room with their back to you. Save as often as you can. Also use bombs and molotovs freely, there's basically no reason to keep them.

You will die a gooseberry fool load, the game is really unfair, chalky will love it if he doesn't brake it in half first.

Only thing that stops it being a 10 for me, even so it's the best first person game I've played in ages.

Absolutely blown away by this. Unless it takes an absolute nose dive in quality I can't understand some of the middling reviews.

My current objective is to use an android to get me a component to fix the elevator. I'm stumped as to how I get passed the electricity, can someone just give me a clue as I really want to figure it out.

Look around the room there might be stuff you can move to make pathways

Getting near the end of this now and, well it's been a roller-coaster.

First off, the absolute star of the show is the Sevastopol. It's second only to Rapture in my eyes as the best realised world ever put in a game. Stunning to look at, utilitarian in its design and perfect in its recreation of the Alien aesthetic. If the game had comprised entirely of wandering around the station taking photos I'd have been happy.

Secondly, the Alien. Hmm. When it works, it works brilliantly. Hearing it stomp around the vents before noisily emerging one room over invokes terror I haven't felt from a game in a very long time, ditto from diving into a locker, unsure if you made it in time to remain unseen. But when it fails it fails equally as hard. Several sections rely entirely on luck for success. If the Alien emerges in one particular place you're golden, in another you're done, no skill involved. Terror becomes frustration, frustration becomes anger. This is not a fair game at times, and pushes it's luck way too far.

I've still enjoyed it overall however. A lot of this has come from simply taking in the scenery but the cat and noise aspect is equally as enthralling... When it works.

I've just spoken with Apollo; didn't enjoy the end of that last level very much, taking away all your weapons in an area with enemies that are almost impossible to sneak passed wasn't a lot of fun. Other than this I've only had one section that caused me problems because there was a corridor to walk down with nowhere to hide.

I've absolutely loved this game. I am an extremely inpatient gamer but I think the sometimes frustrating nature of the alien is key to keeping the game authentic; you're never safe. I understand its not everyones cup of tea but you have to applaud the developers for not caving in and empowering the player by making the alien cannon fodder.

I'm watching Alien Directors Cut, I can't believe how much of the movie they've nailed. Has to be the best movie to game example since goldeneye. Creative Assembly are a talented bunch.

Started this last week pre-patch and it ran so terribly I decided to leave it until afterwards. Returned to it tonight and it seems to run fine now thankfully.

About 2 hours in and shitting my pants regularly. :dread: This is gonna be a tough one to get through.

Mission 5 :dread: I wish the Alien would just strawberry float off. I can't remember that last time I've saved so much in a game. My nerves were shot the entire chapter.

Yeah. The sound design in that section is incredible though, you really need to play it with headphones.
