Cal has granted his seal of approval for Colonial Marines.

Sorry, Gearbox, it's all over.

Yeah, I know. Who would ever have guessed you'd have enjoyed an Aliens game filled with sci-fi corridors?

The grain is annoying - but I guess it's meant to be some kind of tribute to the second movie, which is grain central. The Alien AI seems to be slightly better now. I'm actually dying more at Ultimate Badass difficulty now.

About half way through this on the 360. Urrgh.

Ten years ago the press would have ripped the gooseberry fool out of the game for just being so damn slapdash, and the feeling is only compounded in 2013. Visually the game veers from absolutely awful, with terrible fogging effects, and jerky animations. To actually reasonably pretty, though such an eye pleasing occasion is very rare indeed.
It is the utterly moronic game play that lets Colonial Marines down though, thoroughly generic in its execution, often forcing you to rely on AI team mates that cannot open a packet of crisps, let alone shoot an army of aliens. I swear there is also no actual difference in the difficulty levels, your health is annihilated in seconds be it on rookie or ultimate bad ass setting. Which gets incredibly frustrating when the game frequently forces you to into choke points, where you have no choice but to stand your ground and get flooded by Xenomorphs. Which wouldn't be so bad if your AI team mates actually strawberry floating helped you, instead they would rather block your shots, hide in doorways, or god forbid disappear altogether and leave you to get stabbed to buggery. And what is it with the Xeno's ALWAYS targeting you and you alone? There are other humans here besides me, and they have infinite health, attack them you wankers!

I almost enjoyed myself on the stealth level, but that was quickly ruined by the constipated animations, and the fact that they can still home in on you from half a mile away, up and over gantrys and walkways, despite being BLIND.

strawberry float off Gearbox.

Why this is good: Nobody really wanted it to come out on Wii U anyway, and without an extra couple of years of development time it probably would've been received very badly.
Why this is bad: People, for whatever reason, like to buy gooseberry fool games; the charts are full of it. It would've sold like hot cakes to the un-discerning troglodyte masses.

I'm not really surprised someone in America has gone down that route. Though I doubt it's going to have any kind of real success. The demos will all have had some kind of "Not representative of final gameplay" or "Finished product may differ" disclaimer slapped on the beginning or end of it.

Yeah, I don't expect it to have any success either but I suppose it is done to make a point to the developers and publishers.

I'm surprised they didn't sue for the mess PS3 owners have to put up for Fallout or Skyrim.

I imagine it's difficult to replicate the errors on demand.

I completed the game the other day. I think bland and generic would be how I describe it. A bad game? Perhaps its biggest fault is just being very mediocre, in 2007 it may have recieved a better reponse, in today's climate it is just not good enough.

Is this sub £10 yet?

I wanna play it, I don't know why, I guess it intrigues me.

I've played worse FPS games.

However, it's definitely the most disappointing FPS game I've ever played. Gearbox were given the holy grail of film licences, time and a gooseberry fool load of funding. And what did they produce?

It's strawberry floating criminal is what it is.
