Right, now I just watched all of that, and I have to say it looked really fun and pretty tense. As an isolated section of gameplay that looked absolutely fine. The sound effect of that smart gun too :datass:

Some Aliens: Colonial Marines players are having their save games wiped and progress reset, according to reports on the Gearbox Software forums.

The problem appears to be confined to the Xbox 360 version of the game. Players are reporting that the shooter doesn't create save games on the console's hard drive. Instead, it only appears to save to the console's cache; when the cache is wiped, the save game — along with a player's progress in single-player and multiplayer — goes with it. Numerous Colonial Marines players are corroborating the findings and complaining about the problem in at least three different threads on the forums.

No Gearbox support rep has responded to this specific issue yet. But when asked earlier this week about the preponderance of bugs throughout the campaign in general, community manager Chris Faylor said, "We are paying close attention to community feedback (both here and via other channels) and will have more updates in the future."

Colonial Marines publisher Sega is aware of the problem, although the reports the company has received — from "a small number of users" — seem to indicate that the issue is tied to installing the game to the Xbox 360 hard drive.

"If you experience any issues with your save game data, please try uninstalling the game from your HDD and playing from disc while we investigate what may be causing this issue," says Sega.

When reached for comment, a Gearbox representative told Polygon, "If the support [forums] don't have this one indexed yet then it's still likely with QA getting a repro [reproduction of the issue] as the game just came out."

Jesus

strawberry floating hell, really? Isn't this the same problem that caused loads of Borderlands 2 players (like me) to lose all their Badass rank and Golden Keys by trying to create a save system to share Loot across characters, that then took about 3 months to fix? Glad I swore off anything Gearbox after that happening and their total deflection of it being anything at their end.

Honestly it sounds like they swung blind and hit a home run for Borderlands, then have been bumbling through the big leagues ever since! Loving Randy Pitchfords assertive tweets too!

Try clearing your cache and see if it's still there.

Xenos were originally meant to have a more obvious human skull element to their heads.

Oh wow. Yes okay. I was hoping someone would ask this. I have played the WiiU version. The one that is supposedly the best of all of them? It is not. It is the worst. It is a bit of a joke. The WiiU is basically the same game as the console version but with framerate issues, worse texture loading, and horrendously misguided minigames thrown in. You get a 'scanner' to scan enemies and get bonus points that aid your harming them. When you cut open doors (which happens a lot in the game) you have a game where you have to keep the heat 'optimal'. They just add frustration, and take away even more from the fun. We don't know if it will come out, Sega are conisdering canceling it, but right now its still going.

This is looking more and more like another Driv3rgate.

How, exactly? Driv3rgate was about the trustworthiness of the videogaming media.

This is just another poor quality Aliens game. Most of the reviews I've seen of it agree with very little.evidence of artificially inflated scores from industry cronies .

Are you only capable of interpreteting everything 100% literally??

He meant drivergate as in scandal...and its obvious the was seriously shady gooseberry fool going on behind the scenes of ACM. Imagine if the developer was Hammerpoint instead of Gearbox, Steam wouldve withdrawn it from sale and given refunds by now

It's not quite that bad. The War Z was basically broken when it was "released", and not finished by any definition. ACM does at least hold together as a finished product, albeit a very shoddy one.

Theres no "scandal" at all, though. This is business as usual for the videogame industry.

Finished it this afternoon. Another missed opportunity but not a terrible game. Doesn't get a whole lot right either, largely due to the story it wants to tell. I mean, the opening few missions are great but the trouble starts when you get to LV-426. Getting to LV-426 should be when the game does the opposite, in an ideal world. 6/10

The scandal lies in the comparison between the alleged gameplay "demo" and the final product. It may well be standard practice, but like Driv3rgate this is the example to blow the lid off this rather reprehensible practice.

This game provides an endless source of amusement without even playing it.

Also no.1 in Sainsburies. :fp:

Only played the first 2 missions but it's quickly gone downhill. All the aliens have vanished and it's just a COD rip off. Got bored of COD games ages ago. It should be much more creepy, man they have tricked us with those demo vids. What were they doing with it for the last 18 months?

Only if you assume it's a deliberate attempt to mislead.

I'm at a loss to explain exactly what has transpired here, but I simply don't believe that demo was created with the intent of parting fools from their money. Unless the fools in question were SEGA, and even then, there must be easier ways.

Did you read the AMA?? It was a deliberate attempt to mislead. According to the tester Gearbox knew timegates game looked nothing like the demo they showed.

Some of it. Was it ever verified as being someone in any way connected to Gearbox?
