Then you're hyped by proxy! Likewise my ten year old twins are hyped for Let's Go and Minecraft Realms (on Switch :x ) as they were for Labo.

I'll be buying Celeste next week. I'm very much looking forward to it.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

The game I'm probably most looking forward to now is Super Mario Party :slol: Finally looks like a return to a decent party game after the four or five half-hearted games they've shoved out to pull in a few more quid.

I get excited but I dont get hyped, I look forward to games, and Mario Party is actually one I am looking forward to but the days of poring over every bit of info I can get and making sure I have the schedule cleared come release day and being giddy when I get it are gone sadly. I think its an age and life stage thing, I just dont have the time to devote to that much hype and I definitely dont have the time to be able to play all the games I want on release day.

I'd still say if you're excited about something you're hyped for it. Hype doesn't have to be obsessive, does it? Like, you can be HYPED for a film, but not seek out every backstage photo you can and watch every single trailer and analyse it for hidden meanings and book a midnight showing and then a showing immediately after it.

I was hyped for Infinity War and didn't see it until a week after it came out :shifty:

Maybe HYPE is like EPIC in that the word itself has been overused to the point that people don't like using it to describe something.

Apparently not :slol: .

I don't get hyped often but I really enjoyed Horizon 3 (it was the first game I played in 4K and it blew me away and totally justified for me anyway the expense of the new TV) and the series is made by a British developer and is set here so I'm happy to support that.

The only other games I have on Pre-order for this year are Battlefield 5 (I just can't get enough of running about as a crazed medic even if I do end up with piss poor K/D ratio as I'm not bothered about the shooting) and Ace Combat 7 because it's a bloody Ace Combat game and it's against the law to not be excited about flying about in combat jets.

What sort of jaded strawberry floater would you have to be to not be excited about combat jets? It would be like being 5 and not being excited about trains :capnscotty: .

That could be it, Im comparing it to when I was younger and getting hyped for OOT or Halo where I was hoovering up every but of info, pre ordering, midnight launches, all that stuff. I dont do any of that now, so I see it as not being hyped but if you see hyped as excited for something and looking forward to it then I guess Im hyped for something all the time.

The one thing we all say about you is that you never ever ever get hyped about upcoming Xbox releases.

Different levels of hype. I mean I'm not hyped NOW for Halo Infinite, like Red Dead 2 and Horizon 4, I'm really looking forward to all of them, I was just commenting that in that trailer, when the music kicked off I got hyped AF, it could be some sort of Pavlovian response seeing as it's the same crescendo to my favourite trailer of all time but yeah, I got properly hyped.

There are some franchises that just manage to snatch my ticket by default (Uncharted, Animal Crossing, Zelda and the Arkham games to name a few) but in regards to the foreseeable I'm simply looking forward.

Upcoming games like Spiderman, Smash, Just Cause 4 - whether at launch or a couple months after the fact, I'm content pacing idly on the platform, waiting for the time-frame that suits me for the most part.

I can't remember the last game where I would say I got properly "hyped" for, maybe BioShock?

I still get excited for some big releases, but it's not at that same level as back in the day where looking forward to a big release was up there with that feeling you got as a kid coming up to Christmas.

I was massively excited by the Switch as soon as that was announced as well, that's probably the most HYPE I've been recently.

I got quite hyped for Mario Odyssey. Not been bothered about much for years, though. The main games I can remember properly , to the point where it hurt a little bit, were Metal Gear Solid (after playing the demo) and Sensible World of Soccer.

I've had new Zelda on my Switch for a month now and not started it yet. Blaming the World Cup. Will start it soon.

Same here, i don't get hyped for new games at all these days.

I buy them, i enjoy them, but pre-release hype? Nah, none of that for me anymore.

I suppose this brings up the question, Is it bad to get hyped for anything?.

I honestly don't see a problem being hyped for things I'm pretty certain I know will be great like Game of Thrones or Star Trek so why are so many here so aghast at being hyped for a game now?

Is anyone aghast at it or saying it’s bad?

I don’t really feel any hype for upcoming games, but I don’t give a gooseberry fool if anybody else does.

Count me as another filed under looking forward to, rather than hyped. RDR2, TLOU2, PES2019 are top of my list.

It just ain't the same as when I was younger, getting proper hyped for each Zelda - devouring all the info before it was released.

Nothing wrong in looking forward to something.

No Man's Sky and BOTW were the last games I got hyped for.

Very different outcomes.

I still get hyped, but I set my excitment within expectations and usually focus the attention on a few games at a time. So currently I'm most hyped for Smash, KHIII and Ghost of Tsushima. Theres a ton of games I'm still looking forward to play tho. Once a certain games release comes closer I often start to build the hype so the wait feels more bearable, which is currently the case for TLOU Part 2.

I'm hyped for Let's Go Pikachu although I'm not obessively going on news pages just to see if anything new has resurfaced, but yeah my hype levels aren't big as I used to be.

Though I was really hyped for purchase of Switch, when it happened it was worth the hype.
