Why is there so much CA going on in the video? Is that an in game effect or is it inherent in the games? (I don't have psvr).

All VR has chromatic aberration added before the image is displayed in the headset (to account for the lenses). That video must be straight from headset instead of the social view (what PSVR sends to the TV), I'm guessing.

What's CA mean?

Nevermind, read the other chaps reply so now I know :shifty: they were recorded after each match using the share button.
It might also be an effect when jogging as the screen darkens when moving quicker which I'm guessing is to stop motion sickness as that feeling hasn't happened once in that game.

Though it does mess with my head when my gun hits the side of a wall or something as it doesn't go through it so my body reacts like I've actually just walked into it :fp:

That's interesting, I suppose I never get to rematch the actual output I see as my videos are of the screen mirror at desktop res.

Had a bit of a brainwave earlier. You may remember from way back, that I detailed how the vive lighthouses are mounted in my room - extendable poles with clamps. Well when i bought those, I ordered the wrong length, and ended up with a few spare that have been sat unopened in the garage. Fast forward to now and i'm getting fed up of my legs tripping over the cable whenever i'm playing room scale, and the wireless solution coming out is looking like being close to £400 for it  :dread: Kindle get strawberry floated HTC. Anyway, what if i used one of those spare poles and looped the cable over one side? Could it hold it up and keep me from tripping over it?

(the state of this lot)

YES! Looks gooseberry fool, but then i cant see it while playing, and i'll take it down after every rooms scale session. It so much better, no weight dragging around, no catching on your feet. Greet stuff. Not perfect as in a certain spot you can wrap it around your neck (dat suicide simulator 2018) but it's mostly far better.

Played some superhot and budget cuts with it, the latter now being much better and more immersive.

Is the accidental strangling risk the only downside? It always seemed to me that the biggest annoyance of an overhead cable setup like that would be the cable getting in the way of the controller if you're swinging it around. Are you not finding that to be an issue?

No, I've not got the room to be moving far enough from the anchor point to make swinging my arms back over it an issue. The light shade you see is about 2cm above my head height, so hitting that a few times has conditioned me to be a bit more space conscious.

Presuming the cursor in the vid is just because you're capturing on your PC and you can't actually see it while playing?

I like the overhead snagging fix :)

Doh! Yes that's the monitor view and I can't see that.

Finally caved and got a PSVR with the camera and move controllers. Have only played a bit so far but it was fun and seemed to work nicely - although I probably need to work at adjusting the headsets fit.

I stocked up on a few games in anticipation for the purchase during the stores summer sale so have Batman, Psychonauts, Rez, Thumper, Tumblr, I Expect You To Die and a few others lined up. Any others people would especially recommend? On my watch list are Moss and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, plus I've seen SuperHyperCube is on sale and that looks quite interesting.

I've done this before but...

Statik - Really good VR puzzle game (this has been on sale before and might be worth waiting for to be on sale again).
Farpoint (with AIM controller) - Its a very straight forward FPS, but the controller makes it amazing. Perhaps worth looking out for old stock, or if not then Firewall Zero Hour is supposed to be good and there's a bundle with that game.
Resident Evil 7 - Still the best 'full' game available for VR. Even if you aren't in to survival horror games, to have PSVR and not have this game is wrong (there is a VR demo).
Star Wars Battlefront X Wing VR Mission - Worth mentioning even though its barely a 20 minute experience. Also worth buying Battlefront for if you don't already have it (its free DLC for the game).
Doom VFR - A really good version of Doom in VR, its all new and has original Doom levels as an unlockable extras.

I'd chip in with Tethered, nice little god game that looks lovely in VR. Skyrim is Skyrim but the sense of scale is something quite special in VR. Wipeout is strawberry floating incredible. And Ace Combat looks like it might be well worth a purchase.

Thanks HSH for the recommendations. I actually got Statik in the summer as well and most of those other games you mentioned are on my radar to check out as well - particularly Doom.

Thanks Rex. Tethered is another one I picked up in the summer sale having liked the look of it. Will definitely pick up Wipeout at some point as well as that'll certainly be interesting to experience in VR!

These are arguably the two best experiences I've had in VR.

Impressions of Ace Combat 7 have also been great so I see it being up there too.

Agree with Battlefront, the whole experience is amazing I just don’t understand why they dont make a full game. Its every star wars fans dream
