Last night I played Super Hot for the first time. Wow. Just wow...

Astro Bot is so well made; it's packed with little touches. I love how the levels are designed to encourage you to look around corners and through, for example, glass surfaces... it really shows of the VR capabilities in fun ways.

I'm interested in trying Super Hot, Dice' - it looks great! - but I don't have the Move controllers yet and will probably hold off from getting them for a while.

Yeah, the positive reports in this thread were a key factor in getting me to give PSVR a go; I was very wary but I'm now so glad that I've dived in!

Ah! Thanks, Wedgie, I'll explore those different movement options later.

As for Borderlands 2 VR... yeah, reading those initial reviews has put me off. It doesn't appear that it has been that well optimised for VR, certainly in comparison to some of the better VR games available now.

Just played Rush of Blood for the first time. 'Bought' it on PS+ when it was one of the 'free' games ages ago; I must have had an inkling even then that VR would someday be something I'd try. It's pretty good.
Two things though:
1) The rollercoaster gave me a bit of a stomach churn. Not had this yet since getting VR and I thought I'd be immune to it because things had been so fine in all the games I've played - Eagle Flight did nothing, for instance. Makes me worry about Wipeout, which I bought the other day.
2) I might *MIGHT* be ok with buying Resi 7. Shitting myself has been a concern with horror games, but the one jumpy moment in Chapter 2 passed by without me yelling and waking the kids. :)

Just bought Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes on PSVR (£11.99) for the festive period, Nothing says Christmas like gathering around with friends and family trying to defuse a ticking bomb :toot:

I'd recommend printing the manual out if you can. Bit easier than flicking through it on a phone/tablet/laptop.

Definitely print it, plus it gives that tactile easy to navigate feeling that some technophobes need to join in.

Also consider putting it a binder or something, really adds to the role play of it being a proper difusal manual which will help people get in to it

I have just had another go at level 1-2 on Astro Bot and there are two robots that I can't locate. I've had a look aroud - over edges and things - but I can't see them anywhere! Maybe one is sitting in the crane? But I can't see how to get to it.

The game is quite stunning; such a great experience. The graphics, particularly the textures, are amazingly good, even when up close to things. It looks and plays so well!

Astro-Bot is genuinely one of the best platform games I've ever played. It's extremely well designed.

It's very linear, but that's fine. It's closest comparison is Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U, which is a phenomenal Mario game. In fact Astro Bot just makes me want VR support added to Citra so we can play SM3DW on it.

1 is on the plane as it flies up, you have to hit it with a ball. which is what I'm guessing is one of the missing bots. Took me ages finding that one.

Superhot is superb. I fell over trying to dodge a bullet earlier :lol: You need game space when playing it but it's so immersive.

Beat Saber is a great work out. Only played a few songs so far. I love the music and really enjoying the game.

Need to try Moss soon.

Current gen gaming has become a bit stale for me but this has brought me right back

Had a couple and their two kids over today for a roast dinner. They're top mates of ours.
Strapped the fella into Superhot after grub was over.
He fell over, thinking he could lean on a cabinet that was in-game, and punched his 9-year old daughter in the face. :lol:

She was fine. Had enough in the tank to find her mum in the lounge and grass up her dad.
Me? strawberry floating laughed my arse off.

To be fair, last night I fell into the Christmas tree playing Superhot but everyone was asleep - so it's our little secret, Grcade.

I've completed one week with VR. There are plenty of things that could be improved upon but these issues combined don't stop me from thinking that the overall experience is fantastic.

As a reminder, I'm using PSVR on a PS4 Pro system with the standard Dualshock controller.

I have found myself getting mildly dizzy at times and I tend to play in sessions no longer than thirty minutes before taking a little break. I find that it depends on the game / experience; I had no proiblems with Ocean Dive or Astro Bot, but I did with Skyrim (it's okay but takes getting used to) and Doom (I was using the default teleport movement option but I will try the standard move method). To be honest I suffer dizzyness with movement in real life so this VR effect is not nearly as bad as I'd thought it would be.

I'm also having issues with keeping the earpieces in (even though there are three size options) but this is more due to my funny ears rather than a design issue.

But... these challenges are minor inconveniences in relation to the overall experience. It's terrfic, but also hard to explain or demonstrate with traditional 2D tools; folk need to try it out for themselves. I was expecting some sort of mild 3D effect similar to that of old comicbooks but it's far more than that; you feel like you are in the gameworlds and that you could reach out to things! Now that I have experienced it, I'm surprised that VR gains relatively little coverage in games media; in my opinion, things like Astro-Bot should have people shouting from the rooftops with praise! The biggest challenge for the VR market is discovering ways of allowing people to experience it; other media just cannot show it at its best. At least the cost issue has been dented with PSVR edging closer to a mainstream market price. Considering how many PS4 consoles have been sold, Sony has an opportunity to really push the VR format now that the pricing is a little more attractive.
