The five friends found themselves standing in the depth of space. They were surrounded by planets, stars and swirling clouds. They looked around in awe, failing to notice the growing abomination manifesting before them.

It was then, Maury Pensare had a vision. A vision that shook him. Memories suddenly flooded back.

Overwhelming guilt hit him yet again. "This is all my fault..." he said. He had chased James, trying to get him back but he had been chasing ghosts.
"What the hell is that!" Luis yelled. Maury snapped out of it and looked up.

Hovering before them was a crooked old lady, her body pulsating and bulging in and out. From the space above, five puppets lowered to her level and attached to the creature. Attached to each of the five strings were copies of themselves, yet they each looked different. They each wore strange medieval looking garments, with red crosses emblazened on the front. The puppets drew swords.

Unarmed, the heroes had no choice but to fight.

You each have one opponent, yourself. You are all unarmed for this battle. Use your writing skills to describe how you will take down your evil counterpart.

I think to myself "If this is truly an evil replica of myself then I should be able to take advantage of my own weaknesses."

I back into the darkness, out of my doppelgangers sight. As he (it?) looks around the vicinity trying to seek me out I scurry around him as silently as possible. My thoughts convey my plan...

"If I can't hear out of my left ear then neither should he!"

The advantage is mine. I dash out of the darkness and go for the head. Probably the only beauty of being a slave is due to poor living conditions I have now way of trimming my fingernails (biting them is a filthy habit) leaving me with some formidable talons on the tips of my hands. With a deft movement I claw out the monstrosity's eyes and quickly descend back into darkness, waiting to see how he reacts. The flesh appears to rotted with my single attack ripping off most of his face. It doesn't appear to be in any pain though nor have any kind of reaction. He'll now expect me to attack from there so I must be wary and think of a new point off entry.

Creeping behind, I dart towards and again unleash the talons. This time I go for the wrists. As quickly as I attack it drops the sword which I then acquire and lop of his head, swiftly followed by every other part of it's body.

"Phew, talk about coming to terms with your inner demons."

Maury stood frozen as his doppelganger advanced towards him, sword raised. With a surprising burst of speed Bizarro-Maury leapt into the air , swinging his sword down. Maury dodged the attack by milliseconds and felt the bitter air brush past his face. The doppelganger spun round and opened his mouth,

Maury didn't understand this bizzare language but he guessed this twisted reflection of himself was challenging him. While the doppelganger had been talking, Maury had been surveying the connection between his clone and the puppetmaster in the sky. The string looked weak and Maury knew what he had to do. Maury ran towards the his copy , dodging another sword slash by rolling behind him. The copy swung his sword behind him severing his connection with the puppetmaster. Letting out an inhuman screech, the copy crumpled to the floor.
Maury shivered at the body on the floor which looked identical to his own.
"It's just been revoked."

"Er...I'm not built for fighting" Ronnie tried to reason with Dark Ronnie but to no avail. Dark Ronnie slowly advanced on the slave, and swung his blade. Ronnie deftly dodged the swing as he looked for a way to escape. But there was none. Then Ronnie realised that Dark Ronnie was just the same as he and he would struggle to move at all in that chainmail armour.

"Okay, if you want to fight, lets see how fast your fingers are!!" Ronnie said, raising his fists before extending his pie-fingers into attack mode. He charged head-on with his dark self. Dark Ronnie sluggishly swung his sword, Ronnie sidestepped and closed right in on his enemy, extended his attack-mode fist towards the puppet's face, split his fast-fingers and poked him in the eyes.

Dark Ronnie dropped his blade as he staggered back in agony. This battle was over.

Jefferson looked across at his doppelganger with a look of disdain. "Wait," he said, causing the evil version to pause. "If you are truly a copy of me, then you'll know about my crippling fear, right?" His copy froze in place, with a look of confusion in it's eyes. "I'm just warning you," Sykes continued. "There's a spider crawling into your armour!"

The evil Sykes began to wail in an unearthly high pitch, dropping his sword to the floor as he struggled to try and escape from the chainmail that covered him. Desperately, he managed to release it and scrabbled away looking for the spider only to turn right into..

The blade that had been swung into his neck.

A quick jerk removed it, as the evil Jefferson dropped to the floor. Sykes leant over and allowed the spider to crawl amongst his fingers. "Scared of spiders? Hardly! I guess it's true, nobody could recreate a mind as special as mine!"

"Holy crap!" Said Luis to his Armoured Twin.

"You've got a sword and an axe? Bit much isn't it? How about we make this a fair fight, chuck me that sword will you?"

The white armoured Lewis scowled, and threw the heavy two handed claymore at Luis.
Luis hefted it high, admiring it.

Suddenly, The Templar Lewis Charged!

Luis struggled to lift the heavy sword in time to block the incoming axe attack. Luis felt a heavy boot on his chest, he was kicked down with a thud.
The knight followed it up with a slow, heavy swing of the axe. Luis rolls skillfully to the left and tries to kick the legs out from under the knight, but the knight is a pillar of muscle and weight. He doesn't shift.

LuisD starts to think that his options are limited and that he will surely face death at the hands of this monster. Until...

Luis has an Idea.

"If he is me, then I know the one thing that can distract him... I have him now!"

"THE OLD WOMAN HAS HER TITS OUT!" Yelled LuisD, as loud as he could. Knowing that his own weakness was his lust for a firm inviting breast.

With that the Templar knight turned quickly in the direction of the old lady.
This was all the oppurtunity that LuisD needed. He lunged forward, wildly at the Knight, aiming for a gap in his thick, heavy armour.

The last thing LuisD remembers is the warm spray of blood on his hands, and a deep scream.

Old Woman....firm breast? Optimistic.

Some good psychological tricks.

The final connection was siezed. The Glastriel wailed and shrivelled up, collapsing. Space around them began to get brighter, the planets dissapeared and the stars were swallowed up. The light got so intense that the heroes fainted.

They awoke again a the top of the grassy hill. Lined up along the wall was gold, lots of gold. Statues, coins. The Glastriel must have been protecting the treasure, and was eliminating anyone who knew about it or went looking for it.

The Confederate force was still standing at the bottom of the hill. You have seconds to grab the treasure that you want, and to run to the next state.

A bag of gold coins.
A silver musket
A golden Owl.
A sniper rifle
Treasure map
A golden medallion
Decorative Metal Box
A bag of diamonds

Sniper rifle. Sod treasure for now, I want a new weapon that'll help protect us in future.

You grab your treasures as quickly as possible. The Confederates, now with their attention on the rest of the treasure spread out along the wall, lost interest in you.

You run from Levasy and head for the next state border.

You know what to do. You are approaching Washington DC, it is possible to reach it in two more turns. Note that this Quest is coming to a close soon.

Hmm, thought Jefferson, looking at the map he chose as treasure closely. "Hey guys, there's something interesting about this map. Aside from the fact it's made out of human skin, I mean. Most of it's scrawled jibberish but this one word stands out.

Cibola. Does that mean anything to the rest of you? It seems vaguely familiar to me."
