Firstly thanks for the amazing read over the previous weeks, it's been great and something great for you to look back upon.

Secondly sorry to hear about the crap ending but I'm sure things will sort themselves out. Be strong!

I've been a bit of an avid reader in this-here thread, but now it seems we're reaching the last page of the story and I've not made a single contribution. Just to make amends, I've spent the past three (and a bit) hours re-reading the entire thing, and ...

Well crikey, I mean WOW. A genuinely inspiring insight into a country that's so very easy to overlook. From an artistic standpoint, you've captured some truly magnificent images on your travels and I hope this work doesn't go unnoticed. Equally, your unrelenting dedication to keeping this thread updated deserves some sort of medal. Each post was an absolute joy to read and painted an entire tapestry-worth of memories.

Alpha, mate - I hope everything turns out well for you both. You've each shown a dedication over the months that proves you've got something worth fighting for and I've nothing but admiration for you. :)

Thanks for sharing!!

Jesus Alpha that was some last post, you really had me hanging on your every word. strawberry floating hell.

My Gf's folks are Chinese/Vietnamese so I found it a little hard to try and fit in at first (especially considering their English is not great) but I've been really lucky that they've been really nice and made me feel extremely welcoming.

All I can say is, if you really love this girl then that's all the motivation you need to make sure you have her.

Keep us updated, this thread makes me glad I post on here.

Top tip in case you get into more trouble with the parents Alpha, the French Foreign Legion still gives out new identities if you survive 4 years service.

Wow Alpha, when you didn't post for so long I just assumed you'd forgotten; I wasn't expecting that at all. It's a shame that the parents have those sorts of views but wealth and inheritance still play an important part in Chinese and Asian culture and I'm sure Antonia's parents aren't the only ones to feel this way. Good to hear that you're sticking to her - I wouldn't have expected any less - it will be interesting to see what happens when you go back. Will you be staying with her family again?

I got back from five weeks in China yesterday and after being in a country for such a long time it's sad to think that you'll be leaving certain things behind for an indefinite amount of time. I'll do my best to return as soon as possible but finding the time and the money as a student is the main obstacle. I may write up a little account of my journey but I know it won't compare to this whatsoever and, unfortunately, many of my photos have turned out to be shite.

Thanks for all the time you put in to this, both in writing it up and actually creating the stories in the first place. Hopefully my next visit to China will include a stay in Hong Kong too.
