Finally had my first full listen of the album straight through. Loved both Copy of A and Came back haunted when I had heard them so it was great to start the listen off with something familiar. All Time Low has a great funkiness to it which I could see some NIN fans not liking but I found it a nice change. Everything; which I had seen some comments about on here before I listened to it, seems like the most commercial track Trent could possibly ever deliver. A little too much of a generic guitary sound, but I was expecting worse.

Loved both Satellite and Various Methods of Escape but the stand out track of the album is easily In Two. This is the kind of sound I associate with NIN, dark beats and messy synths, didn't want the track to end.

The album clearly been made by an older, wiser and less angry(?) Trent Reznor. It echos How to Destroy Angels at times, but that isn't such a bad thing. Seems to be one of the more accessible NIN albums too, could easily see more singles being picked off it.

Now, time for another listen.

Without a doubt. I'd possibly say it's the most accessible record he's put out.

List time! Now I'm used to the album I'm trying to work out where it ranks in terms of the major NIN releases.

I think at the moment I'd go:

The Downward Spiral
The Fragile
Pretty Hate Machine
Year Zero
Ghosts I-IV
Hesitation Marks
Broken
The Slip
With Teeth

To be honest everything between The Fragile and The Slip is pretty level and likely to change depending on how I'm feeling.

Hard to rate them in order as certain albums rate differently depending on my mood, but as it stands:

Pretty Hate Machine
Year Zero
With Teeth
The Fragile
Hesitation Marks
The Downward Spiral
Broken
The Slip
Ghosts I-IV

I'm acutely aware of how good Nine Inch Nails are. But perhaps it's obtuse of me to point out the spelling mistake in your post... :shifty:

EDIT: That's a shockingly low ranking for The Downward Spiral.

Yeah I'm going to use the auto correct excuse for that one. :slol:

Don't fret Ben I love Downward Spiral, and on another day it might be up higher on the list.

Urgh. Rankings. Will probably also fluctuate based on my mood.

Pretty Hate Machine (prefer the 2010 version truth be told)
The Downward Spiral
The Fragile
Year Zero
Hesitation Marks
Broken
With Teeth
The Slip
Ghosts I-IV.

I will probably change my mind in an hour or so. And I'm not quite sure whether to include Live: And All That Could Have Been either. :shifty:

I rank Ghosts lowly, not because it is crap, but more that it is an album that I rarely listen to. Due to it's complex nature and the sheer length of it I simply don't listen as often as I would like.

Missed them on the last go around. Will kill/maim to make sure I get a ticket. Although that probably won't be necessary.

I still have the personalised Nin.com presale ticket from the last 02 show. Must make sure I'm up and on the internet early tomorrow. :slol:

What's the deal with the pre-sale stuff? Do I just have to register on their website?

Yeah that's all you have to do, then press F5 like crazy. And await server issues. :fp:

Awesome ticket is awesome...well, tatty as strawberry float after four years. Beats a bog standard 02 one though.

Having a go at it on Friday as well for the Manchester show. I would say fingers crossed, but that'll just getting in the way of constant refreshing.
