Nope, they pretend to give you a choice so you don't suspect anything.

When did they start introducing those retarded grade schemes?

They haven't in my school. And in this test it was from level-3c to level-7a

Pro tip, 7A is a generalisation for the higher end Level 7 grades, eg 7.7 through 7.9.

I love how you apparently know nothing about the exams you're taking.

No one knows those things. :fp: .

And the real test of your intelligence comes with GCSEs, 3SS3X. God speed.

That's strange, since we were given alphabetised grades in mocks and then decimal grades in our actual exams. I know, for example, that I got 8.3 for my Maths SAT. Do me a favour and check the SATs results grades list for the last year that actually took them - if the system's changed I'd be interested to know.

In any case, be it 6B or 6.5, it's still a shite grade if it's still out of 7A or 7.9 - it's a shite grade for a shite exam that means nothing and it's not the sort of thing you should be boasting about. You're top of a year composed of cretins based on a test that no-one cares about. Congratulations.

It's very weird then that when I took my SATS, and when I was looking at the setting criteria for the sciences sets I taught last year, all the grades I saw were in the Number/Letter format.

Plus, they're not shite grades. A C is not shite because it's not an A. Nor is a 6 shite because it's not a 7. For a year 9 pupil, a 7A is the highest that can be achieved without being submitted for special papers. A pupil achieving a 6 is bang on target. Very good for you if you scored an 8, that's exceptional for the year 9 age group. But being exceptionally intelligent is going to make you very lonely if you're going to be a dick to everyone else.

So basically you've just got the equivalent of a SATS level 6 and level 7 in two end of year tests? That's good - you're not a genius, but you're by no means stupid. I'd love to have a level 6/7 pupil in my year nine class  Just keep up the work and don't slack off, cos your grades will drop sharply.

Ignore Karlprof, you may not be up to his standards in academia, but you appear to be kicking his arse at social skills.

Incidentally, are none of you doing the superior SATs in year 8 scheme that we piloted yet? It's pretty much perfect, and shows how useless those 3 years for SATs are (Year 9 is much better as an introduction to GCSE).

I know loads of people who were hitting 7s in Year 8.

I'm only being a dick about it because this thread is about stroking his throbbing (prepubescent) cock about it. If he had casually mentioned it in the Chat Room thread or something I'd have congratulated him on being above target, but since he obviously thinks he's achieved something huge that the whole forum needs to know about I think I'll continue to patronise him until he never wants to post here again.

As do and did I. But as I can deduce that you're probably not a moron, I'm guessing that most of your friends are pretty smart too. However, the logic doesn't follow that thus any achievement less than your collective efforts is thus unworthy.

For instance, if I was to have dinner with my housemates and girlfriend, I would be dining with a qualified, practising dentist, an Oxford graduate currently studying for a PhD in maths, a qualified science teacher on his way to head of department and...ahem...me. Unsurprisingly, most of our friends are all university graduates. Would it thus be right for us to sit around and criticise someone who has just been accepted into one of the smaller universities, and is the only person in his year and/or family to have achieved as such? Of course not. Cap'n Essex obviously deems his achivement to be worth something, and if a 6.5 is actually the highest grade achieved by his year then we're obviously not talking about the luckiest area in the world to be at school thus anyone who wants to take a bit of pride in their work should be recognised.

I think we may have to agree to disagree on this, friend: you're taking a bit of an apologists' approach to this. No-one cares if he's proud of it - it's not an achievement in a global sense. If I go to Oxford Uni I may well post about it. However if I was a cretin and managed to get into Soton Art Uni I wouldn't bother, as it would occur to me at some point down the line that what I've "achieved" is actually pretty shitty.

Actually, I think you'll find it's you who isn't thinking globally. To even be able to go to school is a privilege, and to come top of your year is actually an achievement shared by a very select few. You may believe that certain Unis are below you, but to think that going to a smaller Uni is not an achievement on a global scale shows remarkably stunted vision for one so smart.

And you've got a big nose.
