Even if it's months later they'll give you the money back in full so long as you've not used it loads.

Nope. I phoned the, told them I had not logged onto love film in like 6 months and they would not budge a strawberry floating inch only offering a 2 month free subscription as an apology, I told them no I'm not falling for that again.
Everyone I asked about it afterwards were like "love film can totally do that it was your fault".

Ah, it's different now then. I very briefly worked for Amazon recently, getting the full refund is easy as hell.

This was before the Amazon buy out.

I think Prime is pretty good value if you make use of Amazon Instant Video.

I had this with xbox live which is worse because they don't remind you and it's only once a year. It's annoying but really you just have to watch out. I agree Amazon are very in your face about ordering with Prime though.

Prime is great, I just use free trials . Then when they've ended, after 6 months or so it'll let me use another free trial on the same account. Personally I don't see the issue, it's a couple of clicks to cancel the Prime membership as soon as it's activated and you still get the full month of use.

I remember getting stung with Xbox Live a few years back because it was only possible to cancel over the phone, not sure if it's the same policy nowadays.

Yes, just ordered something else today and nice to know I will have it tomorrow. I expect I too will be renewing my free month at some point, but maybe save it for next Christmas as that is a very handy time to have it.

I signed up to Lovefilm about 10 years ago when it was called something else.

I used it for about 3 months, and then decided it wasn't for me and cancelled. rang them and cancelled, cancelled my Direct Debit and thought nothing more of it.

About 5 years later I got a letter from a debt agency chasing me for outstanding fee's of about £600, as Love Film claimed my account was still open and I hadn't paid them in about 60 months. I sent them a letter apologising, and stated I was happy to pay any outstanding fee's as long as they could provide me with records of all their attempts to contact me over this period of 5 years, as surely they wouldn't just not do anything for over 5 years and then expect payment.

They never came back after that funnily enough.

Dicks.

Not entirely OT, but you literally can not downgrade your LoveFilm/Amazon sub, you have to cancel everything and become a new customer. Ridiculous.

I managed to ditch the on demand portion and cut it back to disc only about 18 months back. They were still operating as lovefilm + lovefilm instant then though and hadn't fully integrated it all into Amazon.

People are idiots. It clearly says you will get charged unless you cancel it. You can even cancel before the 30 days and still enjoy the rest of your trail.

Read the strawberry floating terms.

This used to happen all the time when I worked at hotel chocolat. People would get a discounted box of chocolates and sign up to a box of chocolates every month then be surprised when said box came.

Tbh that's pretty awesome gift idea.

So apparently my mother's friend was at one of Jamie Oliver's restaurants recently and the waiter told her that Jamie Oliver was actually in the building that night and did she want to meet him. Jamie Oliver came over and chatted for quite a bit of time and after the meal was over and she asked for the bill, she discovered she'd been charged a £200 meet and greet fee.

Did she dispute it?! That's scandalous.

So she did pay the bill. Apparently it says on the menu in small print that meet and greets with Oliver are charged. Watch out if you ever eat at his restaurants and you see him walking over.

If I see Jamie Oliver walking towards me, there's only one type of charge that will be on my mind, and it's the sort the police do.
