Wait, what?
Amazon Instant Video charges extra for HD? :fp:

Nope that's not true.

It essentially is though, the SD version was available free to Prime members but the HD version wasn't.

Amazon has vastly improved recently. I ignored it for most of my membership period this year, but it has become much better in terms of 'free'/included content.

Front end is still confusing, though - too many categories, badly organised.

The single best thing about Prime at the moment is the digital credit for no rush deliveries. I'm up to around £20 back which I'm going to spend on the Dark Tower books for the kindle.

Their subtitle support was so poor until fairly recently, they've improved it but a lot of content are still missing them. Also have to agree with the criticisms regarding its layout.
I never actually signed up to it, I don't think - I was getting discs from LoveFilm, then they added it to my package. Can't remember if they upped the cash but 2 payments come out every month now rather than 1.

I've had £6 so far which I've spent on music downloads (mainly Aphex Twin stuff).

I was just over £60 after doing most of my christmas shopping as individual orders  Plus got a few cheap things that had been on my wishlist for a while. I have noticed a bunch of albums I'd intended to buy are currently free on Prime Music. Not sure how often they'll shake up the content on there.

Is it possible you might have a VPN extension installed in your browser? (eg. Hola).

Yep, I use Unblock US.

Never had an issue before but I recently got a new router and the problems seem to have been since then. Internet is with Sky and they weren't able to help at all when I phoned them. Even setting the region for Unblock US to the UK doesn't fix it.

Boooo.

No it isn't. Its essentially completely untrue.

You can buy the HD version, if you stream it through Prime you get whatever your bandwidth will give you.

Just try disabling the extension completely and see if that helps (If you're using Chrome then it's More Tools > Extensions and then untick them and restart the browser).
I had a similar thing with the Channel4 website and Adblock+ and Ghostery where it was still detecting them even when they were paused or I had allowed exceptions for the Channel4 site.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

I used to sub to prime, but now I download everything via Usenet and chuck it on plex there just isn't any point.

I gave it a go.

And it worked! \o/ Thanks very much for the suggestion, can't believe I didn't think of it myself :fp:

I watched the first couple of episodes of Mr Robot last night, it's fudging brilliant.

Just finished the last episode of "The man in the high tower". Very enjoyable but disappointed that very little was explained and I'm going to have to wait for the next series to understand it. :x

Quick bump as I wanted to point out something I just discovered that was probably damn obvious to anybody that can take advantage of this.

Amazon offer a deal on Prime membership for students. You get 6 months free and after that you get Prime half price for the remainder of your studies or 4 years (whatever is sooner). You will need a .ac.uk email address to sign up for it.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/student/signup/info

I am due to get my final results in a couple of months, but signed up and filled out the form to say I was due to finish in 2020. ;) Hopefully they will never notice.

I realise this thread isn't very active, but I just got Amazon Prime this week, what are everyones recommendations to watch on there? I just watched the first episode of Mr Robot, quite interested to see where they go with it so will definitely be sticking with that for the time being.

Yeah I've heard that's good, although I want to read the book before I start on the show.
