I had, and still have, a 3DO and a CD32. Both got lots of use. Road Rash on the 3DO was brilliant, and the sound on its version of FIFA really created a stadium atmosphere.

it was awful, it didn't have a dust cover ffs.

i have the 3DO, i like it, i like the daisy chain pads, makes sence that only 1 wire goes acorss the floor to the machine.

i like the pads too, head phone socket in there too, and it plays CDI movies i believe... not 100% tho.

street fighter on it is very good, i've played a few times with a mate, there are load times which is odd compared to the cartridge systems, but the music and flow of the game is great.

gex is an awesome platformer for it, by far the best gex i've played, the other being a 3D version on the PS1 which is piss.

road rash is good, as good as the PS version anyway, although at the time, and now i still prefer the Mega drvie version.

i have a top down C&Q style game for it, but the name of it i can't remember, its not very good tho.

a strange one i own is PO'ed, i really enjoy it, haven't quite finished it yet, who has the time? but its very much along the lines of the old school FPS doom, and wolfenstiens. almost a half life setting, your a cook, on a ship, it goes tits up and you end up fighting your way through aliens, jsut a normal dude in a mad setting, with a frying pan...

one of the more frantic, harder levels...

i never owned a jaguar, but played one at a friends house, once or twice, it was his dad's, sat in their living room, he had some racing 4x4 game, tempest 2000 and a pinball game, never let us play it often (i think he thought it was going to be like the atari 2600 of his youth), but i have since seen and played tempest, its ok, watching my friend's da play it was enough, it was gooseberry fool, we went into the kitchen most times and played his master system hooked up to a black and white 12" portable :fp: thats how bad the jag was.

In order from top to bottom...

Playdia (Bandai)
FM Towns Marty (Fujitsu)
PC-FX (NEC)

To be honest I'd never heard of the Playdia before, but the other two I'd heard of.

SchminkyPinky wrote:The CD-32 was cool because you could stick a keyboard, mouse and disk drive on it and it basically became a souped-up Amiga 1200. I did nearly buy an Atari Jaguar for $10 in Babbages when I was in Florida about 16 years ago but I ended up buying a Sega Nomad instead.

I think we all know I made the right choice 8-)

I had a "TV Boy", which came out at around the same time. Plugged into the TV & had a magnitude of titles - most, if not all, named differently to their official release.

Playdia isn't, but the other two are.

FM Towns Marty was the worlds first 32-bit home video game system. PC-FX was the successor to PC Engine (TurboGrafx 16).

 It's not me but it's a pretty accurate image of what I looked like sometimes. The Nomad is a portable Mega Drive/Genesis and to me it was pretty mindblowing tech and a massive upgrade from the Gameboy/Game Gear when I saw it for the first time. To put it into perspective, the Game Boy Advance came out six years after the Nomad. You could plug it straight into your tv and use it as a normal Genesis too and it has another controller port on the bottom (which in turn works with the 4 controller hub). Of course since it's a Genesis/Megadrive, with a bit of 'plastic shaving' you can use all the add-ons with it like the Sega CD, 32X and the Super Magic Drive Unit (a big 32x sized add-on that let you play pirated games :shifty: ). It was supposed to be region free but I had to use an Action Replay with some games, not to mention a Game Genie for cheats hence the massive stack in that image. As a portable it wasn't particularly great because the battery life was awful but as something to play around my house while plugged into the power supply, I absolutely loved it

The picture is a bunch of Sega consoles stuck together a Sega Nomad a Sega 32x and I'm not sure what the top one is but I guessing it gives the ability to play Master System games judging by the top cart.

It's called the Power Base Convertor.

The 32X is kind of a cheat, since it's basically not used in this arrangement at all: It's just using the plug through Megadrive port.

He's using it with the Segascope 3D device that Sega released for the Master System.
