If these are priced fairly then I will pick up a fair few, particularly Donkey Kong, Little Mac and Kirby

Now we're talkin'! A Reggie figure with moveable hands!

They've done a pretty good job with them. Just the price that matters now. Knowing me I'll end up giving Smash Bros a go and splurge on all these and a GC controller at the same time :fp:

Great idea for Smash Bros. I can totally see myself getting at least one figurine for my 'main', potentially more for other characters I enjoy playing as.

That would be amazing... but the amount of variations makes me think this just wouldn't happen - the cost would be crazy!

But now I'm imagining a little Mii figure of HSH28 on my shelf... staring across at me as I try and get better than -2 In Mario Golf. And a Mii figure of Gario, laughing as I drive off the track (again) in Kart 8.

Maybe even a Mii figure of Ad7.. just moaning about Mii figures ;-).

Nintendo has confirmed that the figure pricing will be "comparable" to that of Skylanders and Disney Infinity figures.

A pic of the Kid Icarus figure - it looks terrific:

"Trophies" are term of figurines that you can collect in SSB so I assume Nintendo used the term again for Amiibo figurines.

Either way they look ace, I'll probably buy em all. <_<

The impression I got was that your figure becomes like a pet of sorts. You scan the figure in and it fights in Smash, an AI fighter that you train, develop and customise. You then update the data on the figure and can take it to a friends and have them battle each other etc. Not sure how this would work in other games. But it's easy to imagine the Pokemon context. And the monies.

I think they look ace and if the price is good I can easily see myself investing in a few.

Yep, pretty much how the Skylanders figures work (and I'm guessing Disney Infinity too) . The character's stats are tied to the figure, rather than the game so it can be taken and played on other platforms, friend's copies and the like (the other platform bit won't apply to these, obviously).

If they were somehow able to make them work cross-game, then that'd be really cool.

Imagine if they made a Pokemon games with graphics close to the cartoons, they'd make a gooseberry fool load flogging these figures.

Where was Pokken Fighter anyway?

Roughly, eight to fifteen quid. I'm hoping that the Nintendo chaacters won't be more than 8 or 9 snoops.

Wouldn't surprise me if they went for £15 or the general higher end individually with incentives for buying multiple figures.

I like this shot as it shows a greater range of the figures. The Fox McCloud figure is marvelous.

Marth and Pit look the best to me. Probably get Mario and DK as well.

Evidently it's not Smash specific anymore.

Presumably you wouldn't need to buy new figures for every game that supports them though, which gives the idea some interesting legs you dont see in Skylanders.

I got the opposite impression as even the boxes for the figures have the smash logo on them.

In fact, that's my only concern with amiibo: it doesn't seem quite as cross game as they implied initially with new variants for Mario et al coming out for their big games rather than having one Mario figure that works across all games.

I'll still buy them all though :shifty:
