I'd stopped getting amiibos and the past few waves have completely passed me by.

But... I've just seen this (spoilered for massive):

I may have to order these guys :toot: .

Still buying the amiibos as they get released, although not at Day 1 unless it's character I want, or cheap.

I know I'll be pre-ordering Timmy & Tommy one. Best duo ever <3

Following the tip-off from Floex, I now have the Splatoon amiibos in my collection... here I am welcoming the guys into my home :toot: :

I love the characterisation and colour of these figures - I think they're my fave amiibos.

EDIT: Just realised that the green figure is actually an official Green Gecko amiibo. The first ever REAL GRcadian amiibo :toot: .

Ryu looks like a cool figure, milner, even though I'm not a Street Fighter fan.

I'm slightly disappointed with the photos as I can't ascertain too much in the background beyond a Philips TV. The environment looks incredibly neat and tidy!

I've picked up a Shovel Knight amiibo. Did you know that...

> It isn't actually made by Nintendo
> The manufacturer is Just Toys International
> The packaging doesn't contain a Nintendo logo; although it does sport the "Officlal Nintendo Licensed" seal and the amiibo logo
> And... you can use the amiibo without taking it out of the packaging! I presume that there isn't a metal seal as with the other amiibo!

Bravo, Yacht Club Games!

Zelda and the NX may have been delayed, but don't worry because there are two new amiibos coming out on 8 July.

For anyone with a few Amiibo I can highly recommend Mini Mario & Amiibo, it's a free download on both Wii U and 3DS and more levels unlock the more Amiibo you have (it did say there were alternatives to unlocking other levels without Amiibo but I forget exactly how to do this).

Look forward to putting more time into this tomorrow, neat game.

I think that you use specific amiibo to collect amiibo tokens which are then used to unlock levels in the Star World. I've just completed all the stages that you can play with any amiibo and I really enjoyed it. Anyone who liked Tipping Stars, or wants to try it out and has an amiibo, should definitely download it as soon as possible.

The gameplay is just like Tipping Stars, which I loved, but it adds a new layer with amiibo abilities. You can even switch characters within a level, as sometimes you need multiple abilities to grab everything, which adds more challenge to the game, if you're looking for it. The great thing about this, like Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, is that you can tailor the difficulty to suit what you want. You can collect every single coin and amiibo token, while also using a character specific exit, in one run and as quickly as possible if you really want to test your skills. On the other hand, you can take your time and just collect as much, or a little, as you like and even replay the level to grab each token on a different run. The choice is yours!

There are 13 levels available when you scan any amiibo which I managed to complete in under an hour. I went for all the coins as well so there doesn't seem to be much to do but it's a great bonus for anyone who already has an amiibo, especially as the gameplay is fantastic. If you enjoy it, I heartily recommend Tipping Stars. In fact, I suggest that you buy Tipping Stars anyway, if you like puzzle games. I think that each amiibo unlocks 4 extra levels but only the ones below have their own new levels to play. You then have 9 more Star World levels to unlock by using amiibo abilities to collect amiibo tokens which unlock those Star World levels.

These seem to be the amiibo with special abilities:

Image

If you don't scan one of those amiibo, you'll play as Mini Spek who doesn't have any special moves. I played as him (it?) because I wanted to see how much I could do with any random amiibo and Ganondorf was the closest one to me :P . It's a shame that other amiibo don't at least have their own models, as I was hoping that it would be Shulk time. I have all of the amiibo in the image above, except Luigi and Peach, so I'll be replaying it to unlock as much as possible.

Ultimately, this is a great bonus for anyone who owns an amiibo and you should definitely try it out, if you have an amiibo. You can't do anything without scanning an amiibo but, if you like the look of the gameplay, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars is very similar and it comes highly recommended from me so be sure to check that out, if you haven't done so already.

Great write up Dragon! Remarkably comprehensive, and aye a little toy Ganondorf bumbling about would be great ahah

I'll echo your sentiments in it being a great little puzzler, I like releases like this that are giving value to the amiibos I already own.

Thank you :toot:

It turns out that I was wrong about being able to change amiibo on the fly to grab every token and coin in a single level. The layouts of the coins are varied slightly depending on the amiibo that you use so you do have to take a moment to reaffirm your plan of action after scanning a new amiibo.

Hopefully these characters make it into the next Mario vs. DK title because their abilities are a great way of expanding on the variety of challenges seen in Tipping Stars. Just like Tipping Stars, the environments are excellently designed according to their own themes. DK's Barrel Blast Jungle is very reminiscent of Donkey Kong Country while the Mushroom Hills, unlocked by exiting through Toad's door on one of the later levels, is filled with toadstools.

amiibo Challenge is easily my favourite use of amiibo and anyone with some figures should jump into this as soon as possible. Tipping Stars is a fantastic game so I'm very happy to see its concept expanded through amiibo.
