The much-loved actor, best known for his portrayal of put-upon Spanish waiter Manuel in the classic 1970s sitcom, passed away in a care home last week and was buried yesterday.

His wife Melody, who cared for him tirelessly, said: ‘My heart has been broken every day for a long time.’

She also revealed that she collapsed while caring for him. After developing acute stress, she was taken into intensive care but ‘got over it real quick’ and bounced back so that she could carry on looking after him.

I know people die every year, but it feels like so many famous entertainers are passing away this year.

I still laugh every time I watch Fawlty towers and Manuel is the character I quote the most from it. RIP

He knew nothing.

They were interviewing his son live on the BBC this morning, and of course the guy was clearly shaken, and the presenter just kept pressing him for fawlty towers anecdotes. At one point, clearly running out of things to ask him, he asked if it was a real moustache :fp:

"...no, it was just a stick on"

"Tell us about that!"

"......it was a stick on moustache"

"OH I love fawlty towers, do you?!"
