First time I've ever sold a phone mid-contract, and I'm going back to my old Huawei.

Not that it's a great sales pitch, but after owning it for 7 months I've decided I really don't like it.
Camera is terrible compared to my old Huawei (if this is the best camera on a pixel to date, I feel bad for older pixel users!).
I dislike the size and the shape (I have a Mous case on it and it makes it huge to make up for the camera ledge). And without a case it's so slippery it doesn't stay still on any surface.

It doesn't bring anything to the table that my old phone didn't already excel at.

Just don't know what it's worth is my biggest problem.
Screen has a Mous protector on it, so is untouched. Have all the box etc still.

Is anyone interested in dating me?

I have herpes, my penis is smaller than your exes and I've a history of domestic abuse.

Any takerS?

On a more serious note, I came in here to ask if anyone knows of a way I can get my phone to 'come to life' at midnight.

On St Helena you have to pay for all WIFI usage and its an extremely restricted amount...however between the hours of midnight and 0600AM this is FREEEEEE, no limits.

However, I am never awake at those times. I need to upload a load of videos and download many updates, but I don't wanna set an alarm for midnight just to tell my phone to update. Is there a way I can get my phone to come out of flight mode at midnight automatically? (And ideally go into flight mode again at 0600).

You could try the "Tasker" app, I think it will do what you want. It used to require Root but I don't believe it does anymore,

https://tasker.joaoapps.com/

It's a paid app, but does have a 7 day free trial if you just wanted to do something as a one off.

The new Samsung S23 Ultraaaaaaaaaa has been announced. Looks very swish and comes with a 200 MP camera.

Only £1,499  with no charger in the box.

Not sure if there's a more suitable thread for this, but yesterday my BBC News, BBC Sport, and BBC Sounds apps all stopped working. When I open them, News and Sounds get to the splash page and go no further, while Sport takes aaaages to load, and then loads the text but no images.

All other apps work fine, and these apps themselves were working fine until yesterday. I've checked for updates and updated where relevant, uninstalled and reinstalled, cleared the cache, cleared the data, and none of these have resolved it.

No idea what else to try. Anyone had something similar with these or any other apps?

Try updating Android System WebView.

My pixel 4a keeps sporadically telling me I have no sim card inserted and so no service, even though the sim is in there. A restart usually resolves this, but then maybe 12 hours later it happens again. I've tried ejecting and reseating the sim, but it still happens maybe once or twice a day. It's getting very frustrating. Anybody else had this happen before? Is my phone strawberry floated?

I would request a new sim card from your network first as it could be that, if it continues after that it may be the sim slot and you may have to have the mainboard replaced.

I found a fix for this, incidentally. Put a tiny, once folded bit of paper under the SIM card. Not one disconnect since.

Ridiculous.

There was a decent deal on Pixel 8s over here if you signed up to Google's network (Fi) and get their $60 a month unlimited plan for 24 months.

Get a Pixel 8 for free, get a further $200 back over the 2 years, get a year of youtube premium and 2 years of 100gb of Google storage. Fairly happy with it! Not 100% sure I love the gestures for home and back, but the "buttons" have back on the wrong side! I'd like to have back on the bottom right as it's easier to hit with my thumb. Oh well I'm sure I'll get used to it.

RIP your service when Google mothball the network in 6 months time.

Has anyone dealt with ID mobile? I have cracked my screen and need a proof of usage report, they keep saying they'll email it to me and never do, it's infuriating!

Tempted by the new Pixel 8a. My 4a is a bit knackered, and doesn't do 5g so the extra £150 trade in offer Google are doing is looking pretty lucrative, brings it under £350, and it looks like it's coming with the same 7 years of software support that the bigger 8s have.

I've not looked into it yet, but I remember doing some research a while back and in some aspects the 7a was better than the 7! So if they have carried on in that fashion then you will have a hell of a lot of phone for £350.

I've got a 6, and have taken a stupid oath that I won't upgrade until the 10 comes out.

Picked up an 8 SIM free a month or so ago for £395 can't really see that it's a huge improvement over my 5 really. Battery lasts longer but then it's brand new. Google seem to only really be advertising the pro so with that and the a I don't really see why they have a standard model
