For a free update that's pretty brilliant even without buying amiibo stuff.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I know so little about the new Animal Crossings but watching that one-minute video and it looks like the series has come a long way. There'll be a Switch installment of this... surely?

It was a pretty funky show... quite trippy for two o'clock on a Wednesday afternoon!

Update downloaded and game started. It has been quite a while since I last played and I've forgotten some of the controls! I'm back in my (freshly-weeded) town, collected a couple of MEOW tickets and popped over to see Haaaaarv at the camp site :) . I then spent a few minutes in someone's camper van :shifty: .

Animal Crossing is back and it feels fresh :toot: .

Lazy Fair... .

I think most of the the addidtional functionality works in a similar fashion to the original gameplay i.e. you have to play and unlock stuff over time. Have you been to the new camp area yet? You can do this immediately; so you can meet Harv, have a look around and visit a camper van character. To activite the amiibo / card functionality you have to play for a while and unlock (I think) the Wisp character which wil then put Wisps' lamp into your home. From there you can talk to Wisp and use amiibo / cards.

You can finally invite villagers to your town using amiibo accessories. However, special NPC, Animal Crossing amiibo figure characters, will not move into your town. They will only appear in the campground and offer to sell unique items in their RVs.

Contains a brand-new Campground area in the town where you can interact with villagers in new ways.

All existing Animal Crossing amiibo figures and cards are now compatible with the game.

50 new Animal Crossing Welcome amiibo series amiibo cards will be available for purchase beginning 12/2/16.

Tap a Welcome amiibo card to invite the pictured character for a visit at your new Campground. Existing 400 Animal Crossing amiibo cards will work with the game, however, the characters will only appear in the town, not in the campground. All of the villagers can be invited to move into the town.

Tap select non-Animal-Crossing amiibo figures to access new items unique to those characters at Campground.

> To access the new mini games you have to play for a while and unlock the Wii U / 3DS systems for your home.
The in-game Wii U console item unlocks the Desert Island Escape game, while Animal Crossing Puzzle League can be accessed with the in-game New Nintendo 3DS XL and New Nintendo 3DS items. The Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS XL and New Nintendo 3DS items can be obtained via fortune cookies at the Nooklings’ shop, but it’s much easier to obtain these items when you scan any of the 16 Animal Crossing amiibo figures.

I felt that temptation too, Qikz. I moaned about the price of the cards when they launched.. and then bought some. Now I've just ordered a few more cards :fp: . Because Animal Crossing.

I wonder if this is all a big build up to "you can take your new leaf town into AC Switch!"

That'd be amazing.

Just snuck in a forty-minute spin. I was wandering about when I stumbled across a lamp... so I picked it up, took it back to my home and *wham!* Wisp jumped out.

You can summon an AC character via Wisp once a day by using an amiibo or an amiibo card. To start things off, I used my Tom Nook amiibo and Tom turned up in his van in the camping area :) . After a chat and a quick check-out of some of his gear, I used a few MEOW tokens to order a Wii U and a New 3DS :toot: . Apparently they'll arrive in the post and so, hopefully, I can then play the mini games!

It's all pretty exciting :toot: .
