Animal Crossing Pocket Camp review - 8.0

http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/11/15/ ... amp-review

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp delivers on the brief, daily getaway I hoped it would, while also making some welcome changes to the franchise’s formula. Limitations like an always-online connection and frequent loads can make the on-the-go experience occasionally frustrating, but I continually found reward — both literally in-game and metaphorically — in working toward building a better campsite. And just making sure my animal friends really, really like me. With the potential to continue introducing new items, seasonal events, and other camp upgrades, I expect to be taking this vacation for weeks, if not months to come.

Pocket Camp is a true-to-series adaptation of Animal Crossing delivers plenty of reasons to take this camping trip.

One thing I noticed is the bloody music doesn't stop and play a cinematic every. single. time you pick up something (and then resume the music from the beginning, meaning you hear the first bar of music endlessly when you're collecting).

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Rumour has it that the launch date is Tuesday 21 November but there has been no official word on this.

You’re playing the Australian version already, Gecko? I don’t like the idea of a cinematic playing at every pick-up :o .

I like that sound in NMS... and it only plays when you increase a goal level :shifty: .

No I mean, that's what it does in the 3DS game. I picked this up from videos;- I haven't played it yet. A minor annoyance I have with New Leaf.

Nintendo Life are pretty positive about Pocket Camp. I’m hopeful that this could be a mobile title that is genuinely fun to play and not constantly trying to attack my wallet.

It'll attack your battery instead. Apparently it drains it pretty good.

Yeah, I saw that mentioned in the IGN review, Alvin. The Nintendo Life guys didn't appear to say anything about this, though. I guess we'll have to wait and see! Rumours persist that the game will launch on Tuesday.

I plan to try the game out on my tablet (iPad).

Quite looking forward to this, I could do .apk trick but I'm too lazy to do that myself and got Xenoblade to play anyways so I'm more than happy to wait for UK release.

Still bit stupid that it's not nationwide release tho, but heyho

... . Off to look at that right now!

Edit: Yay :toot: . But... dang it! Tablet needs charging!

Edit: Keep getting a comms error on the title screen. The servers must be getting a hammering at the moment!

Edit: Yeah, can’t progress at all - constant comms errors :( .

Edit: Apparently the servers haven’t been turned on for iOS users yet... only Android.

It is so frustrating! I’d thought we were ready to rock ‘n roll but it appears that some switches still need to be flicked on. I don’t think that I have ever been excited about the launch of a mobile game before!

It sounds good from reviews, but I'm still wary about the whole wait to craft aspect. I hope it's not like every other pay or wait mobile game out there.

Just been able to get on, link my Nintendo account, and download the additional data the game needs that it inexplicably doesn't download when you get it from the Play Store.
