I've started playing Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and I like it! I get a kick out of obsessively positioning furniture and deciding what works best. I've even used a few amiibo cards to bring characters into the game. I guess this should be " " but really it's " :toot: ".

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is to get a game update this autumn :o . The update will allow amiibo and amiibo cards to be used; the characters can arrive in your town although it is not yet clear just what (if any) benefits will arise from this.

This will probably draw me back into New Leaf. "I'm excited!".

>>> Bumper breaking news update! <<<

> The cartridge version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo will launch on 25 November and include one new AC amiibo card
> The new series of AC cards will launch on 11 November; a pack will contain 3 cards in UK / Europe, unlike the 6-card packs in the USA. The new series consists of 50 cards
> New amiibo game features:
- Tap your favorite villagers' amiibo cards to invite them to come visit your town
- You can also tap select amiibo from other series to get new furniture themed to those characters!

The new amiibo functionality will be delivered as a free update for owners of the AC: New Leaf game. I'm awaiting confirmation, but I'd guess that the update will arrive at the same time as the updated packaged game goes on sale. As a treat, the update will also, as a one-off, clear all of the weeds that have built up in your town - ideal if you haven't visited for a while!

I'm looking forward to returning to AC! Will you be entering your AC town?

I yearned for the original Animal Crossing when it was back on the N64, remember reading about in N64 magazine and being desperate to play it and absolutely gutted when it didn't come to Europe. Had similar excitement for the Gamecube version which was totally quashed by the seeming lack of a release. I ended up importing the American version and played it along with a Freeloader for quite some time until the inevitable boredom kicked it, I particularly loved the ability to get the old NES games and I had a basement full of them!

Later on I replaced it with a UK version and started over and got really into it for a number of months before I stopped playing.

I tried Wild World and 'Let's go to the City' but got quickly bored of both. Played New Leaf a lot more but ended up selling it when I went back to being a student and was short of cash one month. Been meaning to buy it again for a while so I can get back into it but not sure I use my 3DS enough for it to be worthwhile.

Hoping with NX we get another proper home edition early on, this time with updated graphics (The N64 graphics have outstayed their welcome!). A DL copy of that would be fantastic and I could absolutely see myself playing it every day. Even better if it linked to the upcoming mobile version and you could take it on the go

NX Animal Crossing on launch day would sell me an NX. Haven't played it since GameCube days but ready for another go.

I've only played the Wild World (DS) and New Leaf (3DS) games to any great degree and I really enjoyed both of them. I did have Go To The City (Wii) but I never got into that; to me, the game feels more suited to a handheld system. I played Happy Home Designer and, whilst I still had fun with it, it's a completely different game, being a simple room designer rather than packed with activities like the other titles.

I was really pleased when I heard that New Leaf is getting the amiibo update as that will act as a draw to get me back into the game. I had collected a few AC amiibo cards for Happy Home Designer and I'm looking forward to trying them in New Leaf, alongside the new range of vehicle cards.

This thread has definitely cemented my decision to try and pick up the GC version.

Gamecube version was great, especially as you could collect a whole load of olde world Japanese stuff. Sure you will enjoy!

Yeah, the GC version does look cool. Talking about furniture... the New Leaf amiibo update will allow for new special furniture to be used. If you have any Splatoon amiibo, you'll be able to use Splatoon-themed gear and decorations :-).

This will probably sell me on both the Splatoon content updates and the Amiibo needed to unlock them, which themselves unlock stuff in Splatoon, including a little mentioned extra minigames for waiting in lobbies (which I do a lot).

Animal Crossing fans, there is a Nintendo Direct tomorrow (2 November) at 2pm to discuss the (free) new content that is coming to New Leaf.

I only have 1 amiibo, but I'm wondering if the nfc reader that came with happy home designer that seemed like a bit of a flop can be found cheap?

Rumours abound that the free update does a couple of things; firstly it introduces a camp-site area in which you'll be able to invite any Animal Crossing amiibo / amiibo card character to visit; secondly it seems that using some non-AC amiibo / amiibo cards will allow new furniture, items and designs to be used. There will also be fifty new characters introduced via the new amiibo AC New Leaf card series and I think these will each have their own motor home vehicle that you can visit*. It all sounds intriguing and I'm looking forward to re-visiting my AC town to check these new features out.

Oh, and apparently the update will deliver a one-off weed clear-up so, if you haven't been into your AC town for a while, you won't need to panic about it being overgrown :-).

In terms of getting it cheap I think you may have missed that window of opportunity, Gecko - they were being sold off a few months back. Even so, you can pick up a new one for £17 at GAME or £18 at Amazon. But, hey, it's always a good time to get back into AC :) .

* EDIT: And thus this update shall be known as the Ad7 expansion. Ad's legendary van :datass: .

I have no amiibo, will this update do anything for me? I was about to trade it in.... I just didn't connect with it like I did the GC version all those years ago.

The focus is expected to be on the incorporation of amiibo (figuure and card) functionality, Lime. It's a shame that New Leaf didn't grab your attention... it is generally regarded as being one of the best in the series. Maybe you could give it another go?

I saw copies ofHappy Home designer with the NFC reader going cheap in the discounted games bit in my local asda. The bit where they still have limited edition vanilla destiny boxes for £60.
