Picked up New Leaf yesterday, and it's good to be back in town.

Cleared the downpayment on my house this afternoon, and started building a healthy fossil collection already.

What does the amiibo integration do? Will I be missing out on anything significant if I can't be arsed to go out and spend a load of money on plastic tat?

It depends on the amiibo, I think. Some just give random items, others might give franchise-themed stuff, and a few specific ones unlock special villagers, like Ganon and Wolf Link.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is on offer at £12.79 in the 3DS eShop. It upgrades automatically to the latest Welcome amiibo version of the game. Get one over on Nook.

Balladeer wrote:...Given that there are essentially eight villagers, I’d be very happy if they cut it down to thirty or fifty character models. Nobody’s going to miss Tom the random cat.

Really I’d like to see either some exploration (go out into the hostile world and find other towns!) or some plot, but I know that’s not what the series is about and I accept that. Bring on Ever Oasis 2...

Yeah, Balla', there are a ton of characters and I guess it'd be cool to get a little more depth to perhaps a smaller circle of animals. I like your idea of visiting other players; easier access to other towns and maybe more locations such as the island.

Robbo-92 wrote:...Also something else I'd like to see to streamline the game play is having access to the tools all the time, or a separate pocket simply for the tools and clicking right/left on the joy cons d-pad alters the like in New Leaf. This way you get more space for stuff to collect/sell and still have all your tools to hand.

It would be definitely be much better if the tool items had easier access, Robbo, and a separate bag area for them would be cool.

Mafro wrote:I probably won't be interested in a new Animal Crossing unless they actually do something interesting with the online stuff.

I am hoping that the "visit your friends" option in Pocket Camp will appear in the Switch version, Mafro. It is simple to access and this could work well in the Switch version. Maybe it'd be nice if there was a capability for everyone's town / area to be part of a bigger city? It could be fun to broaden the horizons and, as you say, slick online connectivity would be a key aspect of this.

Back in to this again. It's always so good to dip back in. I think I have been playing this on and off for 3 years now.

Just a bit more about the layout of the town for my idea, the middle section wouldn't just be a city. The middle of it would be filled with a lake. The lower acres are the city, with the upper acres being where the station is along with a few more city buildings. That central lake can be expanded with new walkways and platforms that will eventually host a number of events. The west and east sides don't miss out on the fun, though.
In fact, I think this might become my new blog series once I'm finished with Future of Mario Kart. Certainly a lot that can be talked about.

I've not loaded New Leaf in ages, keep meaning to go back and finish off the bugs, fish (I think I've finished fossils and tbh the art can do one) but never get around to it. As has been the case for a while now my 3DS is essentially just my Pokémon machine, should get around to loading up tonight and go listen to K.K. Slider :)

Plus check in on all my villagers who no doubt will have missed me for all of one conversation.

It's good to hear that you guys have (are) gonna travel back to your villages. I didn't play for a year or two but got back into it a few months ago. I think I'll load it up tonight... as you say, Robbo, it is an opportunity to visit Club Lol and see KK :toot: .

It sounds like you have loads of ideas about where you'd like the series to go, getting it all written down in one place sounds like a good idea and would make for easier reading :)

I've certainly got ideas. Once I get the series started, I'll post it here.

Currently jammin' to Forest Life at Club KK. Might listen to a few others as well.
KK needs to keep his club for the Switch game. It's such a great place. Though maybe with a few guest appearances at the care and the train station during the summer as references to the older games.

I really do hope AC Switch is a step above whatever we have seen from the series so far. Simply doing another AC game won't keep me hooked as much as the games used to.

Yeah, it'll be great to see some fresh developments, HK; although let's hope this results in interesting stuff rather than a Pocket Camp-style pay-a-thon. I still like the core mechanisms and feel that these features could be built upon.

Yeah. 2019. If it was this year they'd have shown something.
But it is definitely coming. And I'm excited by the possibilities it can bring.
