Did you tell the doctor this? Because like, the most common side effect of probiotic drinks is bloating and gas.

Went to the doctor again and since Colofac wasn't working she decided on a blood test for a "Coeliac screen".
Now just got to get time to go to the clinic and get my blood taken.

Isn't a coeliac screen for people who are allergic to milk etc? I never have a problem with milk, diary etc.

Also told her I am passing a lot of wind and she give me a drug (Omeprazole) for that too as the ones off the shelves such as "Windeze" (simeticone") are not working for me at all.

Just can't wait to get rid of this bloated abdominal. Can't even see my abs that I have been training hard for haha

It probably isn't anything like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_dif but it could be a similar issue
Get to your GP as it could be something nasty.

thanks! Yeah I asked her if it could be a bacterial infection several times but she said no and decided against testing for that in my blood test.
And no I haven't had any antibiotics lately. I even drink Yakult and recently started another probiotic drink.

omeprazole (pronounced Omey-prazoley) is the bees strawberry floatin knees man. It's a proton-pump inhibitor that they give to people with dyspepsia, and you can drink straight whiskey all night without any burn.

no but i don't drink them everyday so it should be okay.

I think I know what may have caused it. I recently made some fried chicken at home and thinking back I realised I had a bloated belly after eating it. Must have been something wrong with the batter mix and it was really floury.
Also had loads of cayenne pepper and chilli sauce in it and other spices. Also used buttermilk to marinate the chicken, something which I have never used before.
Found the recipe on online :shifty:

Still bloated and going to the toilet more often than usual...

Got some of my blood tests back and they came back normal with no signs of infection.
But still waiting on the coeliac results. If that shows nothing then I'll have to go get an endoscopy to get a biopsy of my small intestines.
Seems like it'll take ages before I get this sorted :/

Seriously, mention the strawberry floating probiotics to your doctor and cut them out to see if it helps. Speaking as someone that's had about 11 endoscopies, if you can avoid it, strawberry floating avoid it.

Final blood results came back and coeliac was also negative/normal. But my regular GP has requested stool samples instead of the endoscopy. I thought a stool sample should have been done even before bloods. And more medication as well as omeyprazole. Haven't tried drinking loads of whisky yet lol.
hopefully get an answer shortly

They lay eggs and that can lead to bloating as your stomach sees it as an infection. Thankfully, after generations of arachnids in the brown, the human body deals with it without much fuss and you'll (hopefully) pass between 15 and 35 spiders in your stool over the next month.

I hope that helps.

no it can't be just that because it doesn't look right having a big tummy suddenly and using the toilet 5-6 times a day for a gooseberry fool :/.

Have you spent time in Las Vegas or been on a stag do? If you're the stag you may well have been as I call it "strawberry floated over".

As an aside I've had some "holidays" where using the toilet 5 or 6 times a day is a horrible norm.....

Has the GP done a rectal examination? How old are you? Any blood in the stools? Has your GP asked about this, or done any kind of check-up in that department? I've had the full works - but I am in my 50s now and colon cancer is an ever-present worry when you're at my age. I even had the camera-up-the-bum check (its very interesting, a little unpleasant but not at all painful - I even got to watch the whole thing in real-time, camera's-eye-view on a huge flatscreen monitor next to the bed, so I can say I really have seen inside my own arse).

Are you strawberry floating serious? It was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced, and I've accidently ripped out staples that were holding my abdominals together. The 'cleansing' the night before was horrific and the pain when they had to turn the endoscope round a corner was just...

:dread:

Though I agree with you that getting to watch as they explore through your own bowel is pretty interesting.

I feel no pain, discomfort etc. Maybe going to the toilet a bit more regularly though.
Its really annoying coz I look fat all the time now...
My GP just give me colofac which hasn't helped much yet.

sorry i realise this isn't a medical diagnosis forum but just wondering if anyone had something similar before?

Could be irritable bowel syndrome. A reaction to food such as pasta or milk or unrinsed rice or other stuff. Can you think of food or drink that makes your belly bloat?
Or liver problems which may or may not be related to cancer of the liver.

Thanks for the further replies, sorry haven't checked this thread for awhile.

I give 2 stool samples one for a routine culture and one for pylori (some kind of bacteria) and they both came back clear!

My GP didn't ask me about blood but I already mentioned to him I can see no signs of blood. He did ask if I had weight loss or loss of appetite though and I haven't in either.

So he's put me on Omeprazole and Buscopan for 4 weeks. I haven't noticed any change so just another week before I go back and see what he'll do about it.

I don't like the sound of a rectal examination, I much rather the endoscopy first.

Using the toilet 5-6 times whilst on holiday...was that because you drank the local water or something?

That is what my GP is suspecting but I really don't believe it can be IBS. They did a coeliac test which looked for a reaction to gluten etc and that came back clear so I don't think it was something I ate. Also I have stopped taking my protein shakes incase they are to blame.

Spoke to a friend who's a pharmacist and she told me Ibs meds like colofac, buscopan and colpermin should see immediate affects really and taken when needed not constantly like I am for weeks without results. Also Ibs has many symptoms that come and go. Whereas I have had a bloated abdomenal for months constantly. It's not even an illness but a syndrome!
Will go back to my gp tomorrow and see what he says.

No it's an intolerance not an allergy. There's a big difference.

A guy I know had a similar thing and it was IBS. It just got worse and worse as he was stressed and panicked as he didn't know what it was. As soon as the doctor said IBS it all cleared up. Obviously this won't work for you because you clearly know better than a medical professional.
