Anyone got experience with changing the HDD in one of the newer 2TB sky HD boxes?

The HDD on our 2TB sky box failed yesterday. Has anyone ever changed one themselves? It's out of warranty so I don't mind doing it but I can't find any guides for the model we have, just the older ones. It's this one:

We've got an older one plugged in now as an interim replacement but I want the Wi-Fi and faster one back.

Cheers.

Thanks for all the help everyone :simper: :simper: :simper:

I changed the hard drive on the sky box this evening. Took 2 and a half hours :dread: Fuuuuuck me did they make getting into the thing a pain, screws everywhere, bits of bent metal holding pcbs in place that you had to straighten and then put back with pliers without scratching the boards. Clips on the back panel seemingly held in place with an ancient spell that only half an hour of solid swearing can break. The hdd is burried right in the guts, you have to take every single bit out to get to it :x

Look at this gooseberry fool:

the state of that table
Looks simple right? WRONNNG.

I followed this guide for most of it, http://forums.ph-mb.com/viewtopic.php?t=86 although there's more pcbs on the outer shell to deal with on mine, plus the case is a total that to get to seat properly when you try to finish reassembly.

Cool story bro.

I think I would have just employed the 'my box is broken and I'm poor so I guess I'm just going to have to leave you...' routine.

We tried that, they wouldn't budge on wanting £200 For a new one. Considering we may go to sky q in the near future I thought £60 For the hdd was a better short term spend.

200 quid! I told them to shove it earlier this year and along with other bits and pieces they emailed me this:

I didn't take them up on it, but they're now also offering it to all VIP Black customers on the Sky App too. As Domino's used to say, GIVIN' 'EM AWAY!

If you download the My Sky app on mobile, depending on how long you've been a Sky customer you'll get increasingly better rewards, all the way up to the top tier of VIP Black.

Free Sky Go Extra, cinema tickets and free sports tickets are some of the current highlights. World Cup qualifiers, British Masters Golf, Premier League football and PDC darts. They did have NFL but it turned out they couldn't honour them so gave everyone who applied a year's free Sky Sports or £150 worth of Ticketmaster vouchers instead.
