had a go on one in waterstones today. They can hold the equivalent of 160 books.

Quite nice.

Very useful for all the times I wished I had immediate access to 160 books.

I noticed that too. My housemate is also a bibliophile and would feel fine reading on one of those, but I couldn't. Besides, I like to read in the bath.

It's a gadget for the sake of it, rather than one that's really useful. I think Amazon said the Kindle won't be sold outside the US, and apparently the Sony one restricts you to buying stuff from Sony's online store (Apple-inspired, obviously). And isn't it about £200?

It does seem a tad useless for what it is.

How much does an ebook cost? Will every book be available in ebook form? If I buy a paper version of a book do I get the ebook included?

It also removes one of the best things about reading books. Closing the last page, going to the bookshelf and placing it on the shelf. If the book is high-brow even better.

Chicks love guys with good books. It's why Pan and Gav have the works of Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, Kant and the like face out, with their harry potter books buried in boxes under the stairs.

I don't understand why anyone would want to download a book.

Join a library and you get books for free.

They tend to smell a bit though.

That's the other main problem - ebooks are not exactly cheap. Except classics where copyright has expired, which are free to download.

If only you could 'rip' books to it, like you can rip DVD's to an iPod!

I'd pay £1.50 for an ebook, if the real book was £6. I'm not paying £200 for one of these and then pay near full price for the books to read on it. Like I say though, if I got a download version of a book when I bought my proper copy it'd be a lot more attractive.

Yeah i know what you mean. Its a nice idea but i cant justify the cost. Plus buying a new book with that lovely printed page smell and reading it is one of my life's sweetest pleasures.
