This one is difficult, I'll admit that. Part of it stems from not wanting to be controversial, the other being there's not a lot to pull from without a lot of reaching. Sure, it has enough characters, but the track themes are likely to be limited. And the items... I guess it depends on how the theming of the overall game is handled.

I can picture this one being like a Chibi-Robo racing game crossed with Robot Wars, where you build a roomba to take onto the track that can only pick up certain items from the floor. Create an attacker, defender, or mix of the two as you race around various buildings.

A WWE racing game released a few years ago, and it looks kinda neat. But they're all on bikes to allow for some wrestling takedowns. And it's a free-to-play mobile game. Not really a kart racer as I'd do it, then. There'd still be takedowns, but in the form of energy-based items utilising the item system from All-Star Fruit Racing.

A quick look, and the funny thing is, there was supposed to be a kart racer based on the first film on the Dreamcast. Developed by Rockstar. Apparently cancelled because they couldn't fit the humour into it. I'm sure that wouldn't prove an issue these days. A comical run through the plot of all three movies in the form of a racing game. Think Sonic Riders but with more free love.
