Anyway to get a refund on a Expedia booked holiday?

Long story short, got a holiday booked for Gran Canaria in a couple weeks but me and my fiancée are breaking up.

It cost us £1081 and is listed as non-refundable on Expedia, my question is, is there no way we can get that money back at all?

Ah, Milner, sorry to hear that, man.

In terms of cancelling the trip, that "non-refundable" aspect doesn't sound good, but you could try calling Expedia:

Expedia wrote:2.2.2 Cancellation
Cancellations can be made for flights by calling 0330 123 1235.

For hotels, cancellations can be made online by clicking on the “manage my hotel” page or by calling 0330 123 1235.

For rail, cancellations can be made online by clicking on “Manage Trips” and then “Itineraries” or by calling 0330 123 1235.

All such requests will be dealt with on behalf of the Suppliers concerned. The Customer does not have an automatic right of cancellation unless such rights are provided by the individual Suppliers under their Rules and Restrictions (which are provided to the Customer prior to booking).

In the event of cancellation or partial cancellation of a booking by the Customer, charges may be imposed by the applicable Suppliers. Where a cancellation affects more than one person on the booking, any applicable cancellation charge will be applied in respect of each person on the booking.

A Fee may be imposed by the applicable Supplier in the event of a cancellation or change to a booking – please refer to the Rules and Restrictions notified in the booking process for more details.

If the Customer does not present himself / herself at the departure of the trip, refunds will only be due to the Customer in line with the Rules and Restrictions of the applicable Suppliers as notified in the booking process.

We reserve the right to cancel your booking if full payment is not received in a timely fashion.

A girl at work was in the same situation as you, but still went on the holiday with her ex. Said it wasn't so bad. I guess it depends on the manner of the split.

Well I suggested this as well but she's not having any of it and I can't find anyone else on short notice to take the other spot

Have you tried contacting the airline/hotel directly to see if they can possibly refund you?

Have you tried finding a girl with the same name on Facebook and just taking her instead? Seen that a few times.

I had a year abroad and spent most of it on my own, can be fun and depressing in equal measure.

I went for a week in gran canaria once, was comfortably the worst holiday I've ever been on, strawberry floating dump of a place.

I have never been on holiday by myself, but I think that's your best option if you can't get your money back. Lots of people go away alone and enjoy themselves.

FFS ad

Sorry to hear Milner, you should definitely go alone if you can't get a refund, just for the experience of it all.

That or a forum game.

Staydead and Falsey win the game and get sent to Gran Canaria to have a holiday together.

Little do they know that the DML twist starts when they actually arrive at the hotel....

Sorry that came across as really harsh :fp:

Go for a holiday alone, you'll enjoy it.

Just try and avoid British people.

I will come with you. Here is why you should pick me over anyone else:

- I am punctual
- I keep myself to myself
- I am a strong swimmer

Please consider my application.

Look forward to hearing from you.
